I have a 9 yr old cocker spaniel and a 1 yr old female cocker the female is in her second heat and i havn't had her dressed as i am going to breed her when she is 2 1/2 the problem is my older dog keeps mounting her and, well you no. There is no chance of pregnancy after castration so why i thought it was meant to stop this behaviour. Before anyone has a go at me we will not breed her until her breader thinks we should and the vet agrees if its not to be then so be it but we will be responsible.

My dog has and still does, he even managed to tie with my ***** which i thought was impossible with neutered dogs, next stop panicsville, I started thinking my dog was a rig (term used when a horse hasn't been castrated properly, I'm unsure of the doggy equivalent) but my vet said nope he wasn't so panic over, he still tries to get his end away with my ***** but hasn't tied with her since.
ttfn ;o)
(I'm finding it amazing i cant say B itch in reference to a female dog)

Yep, it happens. I don't think it would if the dog was neutered before it ever bred a female, but after it has done the deed it doesn't forget how to go thru the motions. I had my 8 yr old chi Pee Wee, neutered at 6 and for a long time, he would still breed, but he tries now, but nothing happens. Getting too old I guess. Let them have the fun.

IT will not hurt him to mount or tie with her - matter of fact - it could make her more experienced and less traumatized when you do actually breed her. She cannot get pregnant if your male has been neutered. Why are you waiting until she is 2 1/2? I always breed mine at 1 year - or their second cycle - vet recommended.

Whether or not your male can impregnate your female depends how long ago he was neutered. It takes about 3 months for all the sperm to die off. So if he was neutered within the last 3 months then its possible.

A dog can still have sex a year after its head has been chopped off. What do they teach in schools these days?

Yes even if your male has been neutered he can still even tie up with your female.
No puppys will occur but he can still do the deed.
It happens with many animals my gelding will mount the mare once and awhile.

Yes they can definately still have sex.
I have never heard the phrase you used for spaying a female dog 'had her dressed', how strange. Where did that phrase come from?

No. He can still hump her and get stuck, funny thinng, I don't understand it but i guess it's necessary. She will not get pregnant, and if by some chance she does then you might want to confront the vet that did the procedure. best of luck with your horn dogs ;)

personally i think there are too many unwanted dogs in this world, desperate for loving homes, it not responsible to go into this kind of 'trade' The industry has been abused beyond belief! Please think of something more inanimate to make money from!

what was removed for castration, jus the testicals???
no sperm is going in, what are you bothered about, dogs are not monogomous, neither do they worry about under age sexual encounters, when they are ready they will start. YOU are not the breeder, the dogs are.
