No think logically. This is a book the key word is book books are written by people people write about what they know. So people didn't believe it because it's in the holy book. It's in the holy book because people believed it.

The so-called holy book (the Bible) is trash.

The Bible is the biggest load of garbage and codswallop ever written by man, and I’m sure it will go down in history as the greatest load of gobbledygook ever to inflict such traumatic mental and physical damage on humanity, but still today, some people sadly believe the Bible to be true. That’s very sad indeed. Very sad.

When people quote various passages from the Bible, for example ...

Mathew 5:29-30 God encouraged self-mutilation.
Isaiah 13:15-18 God allowed women raped and little children slaughtered.
Genesis 6:11-17 and 7:11-24 God is the greatest mass murder in history.

What happens? Religious people pop up from under every stone with the same old garbage. “That was the old Bible, or we’ve changed the meaning, or wrong interpretation, or we’ve changed the context, or the quotes are out of context or or or, excuse after excuse.”

The fact is, they are Bible quotes, and the Bible is full of evil atrocities which religious people continually cover up, yet seem happy to drum into the minds of gullible little children. This is such a shameful disgrace in a civilised world.

If religious people are unable to apply commonsense and logic to develop a simple moral code to live by, then perhaps they could strip out of the Bible the evil, murders, rapes, abuse, and all traumatic references. Granted there will not be a lot left to read, but at least religious people may end up with a decent moral code to follow based on good, and not scare the living daylights out of innocent little children.

Brenda's World: you are full of it! Here is your quote: "Isaiah 13:15-18 God allowed women raped and little children slaughtered." If you would actually do some research and not follow blindly, you would see that ALL of Isaiah 13 is not what God said or did, it is a claim of what may happen from a non-believer, an oracle. After doing my own research on that, I didn't see the point of checking up on your other claims. This one displayed your ignorance well enough for me.

For everybody else: Tom and I rarely see eye to eye; but, his logic is quite accurate here, the Bible was written by people who believed in something, in this case it was God and Jesus. People may believe it now because it is in the Bible, but it was written because people believed in it. If they did not believe in God, would it have been written?

what?
Another example of flawed thinking.

If people alone are responsible for the Bible, why did the Bible writers include facts that at the time they would have no legitimate way of knowing other than by God?
1. That touching dead creatures, excrement, etc., was unhealthy?
2. That the earth is round and hangs upon nothing?(at the time most 'advanced' cultures believed the world was held up by things like an elephant/sea turtle, literal pillars, Atlas, etc.)
3. The truth about rabbit eating style?( which was unproven by modern science until the invention of high speed video).
Among others, these facts alone show that although God had humans do the writing, it was his thinking that was presented.

It is silly to think they wrote becasue they believed it only, after all, they did not believe that, they saw it.

Luke 1 - Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled* among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.

I John 1 - The one who existed from the beginning* is the one we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is Jesus Christ, the Word of life. 2 This one who is life from God was shown to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and announce to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was shown to us. 3 We are telling you about what we ourselves have actually seen and heard, so that you may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

I Corinthians 15 - More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
