With burning at the stake you could be unconscious or dead from smoke inhalation before the flames even reach you. Alternatively you could lace your clothes with liberal quantities of gunpowder to go out with a really spectacular bang. They SAY drowning is peaceful, but how do they know? Hanging could be awful if it were done wrong - you could simply be strangled to death and in the old days when they weren't careful, friends used to hang on your legs to make it quicker, as otherwise it sometimes took several minutes of dreadful choking before you lost consciousness. I can think of worse ways to die though: being buried alive; being attacked by a shark; being hit by a train, even though the last two might actually be quite quick they seem really frightening to me!

I accually have a fear of drowning so that one is out.....accually i would like to burn at the stake..its quick you only feel pain for a second then all your nerves are burned numb not to bad...theres no real chance that the noose would break your neck so your gonna hang there for a good minute...yes i have thought about this

For a merciful end, execution by hanging should come tops. The record is, I understand, 12 seconds from the executioners entering the cell, to the stop at the end of the rope. Should be fairly painless, I think.

Drowning is said to be peaceful, but probably mostly in really cold water. I don't fancy it much.

Burning? are you kidding??

Hung. Mainly because during of days when people used to be hung your neck would sometimes break, killing you instantly....if not that its no different from drowning.

Hung or drowned, I don't mind, as long as I'm not burnt alive.

i'd rather be hung. the impact of the drop would snap your neck and it would be a faster death than burning or drowning.

I would rather hang, as long as the drop is big enough to break my neck.
