I am a mature student, wife and mother of two children. I want to do something to contribute to society but have little free time so would be better doing something from home, possibly using the computer. I would prefer helping children, women or families but am open to all suggestions. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Please make your two children good citizens and good human beings. There is nothing you could do better for the society. In the western world I think there are too many children growing without mother love. Mothers are all worried about carriers or becoming teenager again. I mean no offense but I have seen too many examples. Focus on your children please. And try everything you can to eliminate ignorance around you. After your children are gone to sleep become knowledgable in some of the world issues and talk to your friends. Work on illetarecy. You may be surprised how many around you. But your most important contribution will be two good kids.

Keep being a kind a helpful person. I know for a fact that your local volunteer fire company could use some help. The ladies Auxiliary helps the fire company with fun raising by helping out at banquets, and dances, and other functions. When there is a fire call that we (firefighters) are working hard and for a lengthy amount of time, the ladies auxiliary comes out with food and water to help us out. They are a GOD send!!! That can be only a few hours a week.

The best thing I can think of is to treat everyone equally that you are around. All it takes is your heart and it will become contageous and spread. If you are looking for something specific, I am sure that a local church or organization will have something you could do. There are a lot of humanitarian aide that they do that you could help with. Many people crochet or knit hats and other clothing items for 3rd world countries. You could even help put together humanitarian packets (food, personal items, etc) and give them to the red cross. Go around to local stores and businesses and see if they will donate to your cause. The only thing that can limit you to opportunities is your creativity and your heart.

Every one of us have 24 hours a day. So having little free time is not an excuse. Make a commitment and you will find the time.

Look for local charitable organisations in your phone book, give them a call to see if the could use your services, have your up-to-date CV ready to post or email to them. most charities are crying out for volunteers and usually ask you to commit to at least 3 hours per week.

Day in and day out, wherever you go and whoever you come into contact with, be pleasant, helpful, kind, merciful, forgiving, compassionate. People think they have to have some particular "job" or career or task. The hardest thing to do day after day is show others kindness.

Colect money in your college for a charity. You can make alot of money where there are alot of people! And get your children involved if they are old enough. This is a great example to set them.

In the words of Ghandi "Be the change you want to see in the world".

You could try Barnados - they are always looking for home administrators, i believe.

I don't know where you live, but your local political association could probably do with your help. Doesn't matter which party you affiliate yourself with. They could always do with your help. You meet a lot of people and have a lot of fun!
