Candy Coated Chocolates Gift Jar Cookie Mix
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup mini candy-coated chocolate pieces
1/2 cup raisins
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/4 cups quick cooking oats
In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
In a 1 quart glass jar, layer the ingredients in the following order: Flour mixture, walnuts, 1/2 cup of the mini candy coated
chocolates, oats, remaining candies, and brown sugar. Packing down well after each addition;
Attach a tag with these instructions.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees
Grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream together 3/4 cup of butter, 1 egg and 3/4 teaspoon of vanilla until light and fluffy. Stir int he contents of the jar until well blended.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls and place them 2 inches apart
onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 nutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Makes 4 dozen

Herbed Rice Mix In A Gift Jar
1 package (3 lbs.) long grain rice
2 cups dried celery flakes
2/3 cup dried minced onion
1/2 cup dried parsley flakes
2 tbs. dried chives
1 tbs. dried tarragon
3 to 4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. pepper
In a large bowl, mix all eight ingredients. Fill any size canning jar with
the ingredients (this will fill about 5 small jars.)
INSTRUCTIONS TO ATTACH TO JAR:
2/3 cup water
1 Tbs. butter or margarine
To prepare one serving of rice: In a sauce pan over medium heat, bring
water and butter to a boil. Add 1/4 cup rice mixture. Reduce heat; cover
and simmer for 20 minutes. Remove from heat; let stand for 5 minutes or
until liquid is absorbed. stir. 1/4 cup equals 1 serving.
NOTE: To prepare more than 1 serving, multiply the rice mix, water and
butter by the total number or desired servings and cook as directed..

Cherry Chip Cookies
In a Jar, Layer the following:
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup quick cooking rolled oats (uncooked)
1/2 cup dried cherries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
6 oz. white chocolate chips (or semisweet chocolate chips - if desired)
To make the cookies add:
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 large egg
Cream 1/2 cup butter or margarine in a large bowl, add 1 egg and beat well. Stir in the other ingredients. Drop by teaspoons onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove to wire rack to cool. Makes 3 dozen.
Chocolate Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies
In a jar, Layer the following:
3 cups sugar
1/4 cup cocoa
3 cups quick cooking oats
To make the cookies add:
1 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
Melt butter, sugar and milk on medium heat. Turn up heat and boil for 3 min. Stir in cocoa while hot. Take off heat, add vanilla, then mix in peanut butter. Stir in uncooked oats. Stir until all ingredients are well mixed. Drop on wax paper or greased cookie sheet. You can make small or large cookies, whichever you like. Let cool and enjoy.

Chocolate Covered Raisin Cookie Mix
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. chocolate covered raisins
1 3/4 c flour mixed with
1 tsp. baking powder
and 1/2 tsp.baking soda
Layer ingredients in order given in a 1 qt. wide mouth canning jar. Press each layer firmly in place before adding next ingredient.
Direcitons for recipient:
1. Empty cookie mix into a lg. mixing bowl. thoroughly blend mix.
2. Add: 1 stick soft butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
3. Mix until completely blended. May need to use hands.
4. Shape into walnut sized balls. Place 2' apart on sprayed baking sheets.
5. Bake 375 degrees for 13 to 15 min.Cool 5 min on baking sheet. Remove to cooling racks. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
Dreamsicle Cookie Mix in a jar
1/2 c. Tang
3/4 c sugar
1 1/2 c vanilla chips
1 3/4 c flour mixed with
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
Layer in order given in a 1 qt wide mouth canning jar.
Directions:
1. Empty jar of cookie mix into a lg. mixing bowl.
2 Add : 1 stick softened butter
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
3. Mix until completely blended
4. Shape into walnut sized balls, 2" apart on greased baking sheets.
5. Bake 375 degrees for 12 to 14 min. Cool 5 min on pan then remove to cooling rack. Makes 2 1/2 dz cookies.

Here's what i gave out at xmas to co-workers last year:
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 cups rolled oats
(1) 5.5 oz. milk chocolate bar - grated
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts - optional
chocolate chips - as needed
Method :
Whisk together flour, baking powder, and baking soda.
Pour into jar and pack down level with heavy object.
Chop oatmeal in a blender.
Stir grated chocolate bar into oatmeal.
Pack oatmeal mixture into jar.
Pack granulated sugar into jar.
Pack brown sugar into jar.
Sprinkle nuts in jar.
Sprinkle enough chocolate chips in jar to reach the top.
Center a 9" fabric circle over lid and secure with a rubber band. Tie a ribbon over the rubber band.
Attach a card with the following directions: Spoon chocolate chips and nuts into small bowl, set aside. Spoon brown and white sugar into separate mixing bowl, add 1/2 cup margarine OR butter, cream well. Add 1 egg and 1/2 tsp. vanilla, mix well. Pour oatmeal and flour mixture from jar into bowl, mix thoroughly. Stir in reserved chocolate chips and nuts. Roll into walnut-sized balls, place on slightly greased cookie sheet 2" apart, and bake in a 375 degree oven for 8-10 minutes.

When I was in grade school, my Mother made fudge balls and put them in a brandy snifter with a homemade felt santa's hat as a cover/lid to give to the teacher.......
ESTHER's FUDGE BALLS:
2 1/2 cups vanilla wafer cookies, made into crumbs
1 cup (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips
3 Tablespoons light corn syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1/2 cup confectioners sugar
1 cup walnuts, chopped
Chocolate Sprinkles
Crush vanilla wafer cookies in a plastic bag with a rolling pin or process in food processor into crumbs and set aside. Stir chocolate chips in a bowl over hot water or use a double boiler; until melted. Stir in corn syrup. Add vanilla, evaporated milk, confectioners sugar, cookie crumbs and nuts and mix thoroughly. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and roll into chocolate sprinkles to coat. Place on wax paper to set.
JAM BARS:
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 egg
3/4 cup jam or preserves
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Sift together flour and baking powder in a small bowl and set aside. In a large bowl cream butter, sugar and almond extract. Beat in egg thoroughly. Add sifted dry ingredients to butter mixture and stir to blend. Spread a little less than half the dough into a greased baking pan
(about 11 x 7 x 2 in.) In a small bowl, mix jam with cinnamon and ground cloves. Spread over dough. Drop remaining dough in blobs over jam; spread carefully with small spatula. Bake in hot oven at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes. Put on rack to cool; cut into squares.
BUTTER COOKIES:
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
2 1/2 cups flour, sifted
1/4 teaspoon salt
In large bowl cream butter, sugar and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add flour and salt; mix thoroughly. if necessary work the flour in with your hands.
Place half the dough in cookie press cylinder. Press cookies out on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 12 minutes or until golden in color. Remove to rack to cool.
SUGAR COOKIES:
1/2 cup butter (softened)
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
In a large bowl, cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla extract until light and fluffy. Sift dry ingredients together and add to butter mixture. Chill dough for 1 to 2 hours.
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 1/8-inch thickness. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on greased baking sheets or parchment paper. Sprinkle with colored sugar or leave plain to frost later. Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.
PRIDE OF IOWA COOKIES:
1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups flour, sifted
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
3 cups rolled oats, quick-cooking
Cream together; shortening and both sugars.
Beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt and add to egg mixture.
Blend well. Stir in coconut, walnuts and rolled oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
GOODIE BARS:
1/4 stick butter - melted
1 cup graham cracker crumbs
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 can condensed milk
Melt butter and mix with graham cracker crumbs; press into ungreased 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Spread coconut , then chips, then walnuts. Pour condensed milk on top and bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.
