It isn’t the first time that the border has divided Arellano’s family. Her grandfather was a guest worker in the bracero program, a system which brought “temporary” Mexican workers into the U.S. to do agricultural labor from 1942 to 1964.
Now, she says, economic conditions in Michoacan and throughout Mexico are driving immigration out of the country. “In my town, the principle base of the economy is farming,” she said. “My father is a farmer, and disgracefully, the free trade agreement has hurt them. They can’t compete with the grains and corn that the United States exports into my country. It’s sad, but they have no resources with which to keep working on the land and produce.”
Adding to the pressures on Arellano’s family is the fact that her father has muscular dystrophy and can’t walk. “I wanted to come to the United States because I wanted to give something better to my parents, in order to help my father,” she said. If she were to accept deportation and return to Mexico with her son Saul, “I would not be able to offer him a dignified future,” she said.
Arellano’s determination to escape rural poverty led her to return to the U.S. without papers after having been deported previously.

Yes I support her and every other "illegal" alien in this country. Our country was a fantastic nation when we practiced freedom for all. Now it's only for the "white and the wealthy". I would gladly march for the human rights of these people who flee to our country to better their lives.
Viva America! (and I'm Irish/American).

That is not s struggle for justice, it is a desperate attempt to break the law and get away with it, pure and simple. She is a criminal and should be prosecuted as such, serve her time and then be deported.
Who in the hell does she think she is? I am SURE that there are no American born citizens living in poverty. It does my heart good to know that all of hurricane Katrina's victims are all in decent housing with plenty of food to eat and their needs have been met. Since that has been taken care of by our Government yes, lets spend thousands of tax dollars on this criminal to make sure that her needs are met and her rights are not violated shall we?

I really don't feel much for her, the amount of attention she is receiving is out of control. Her being called the "Modern Day Rosa Parks" is a little too much for me to handle. I'm from Chicago, and I know there are MILLIONS of people who are worried about being deported...she should leave with some dignity, we all know she will be deported eventually.

She is a criminal and like every criminal she has a sad story to relate, to get unneeded sympathy from the bleeding hearts..I do not feel sympathy for her ,I did not create her conditions, shes a schemer and shes using her family the way she is using her son,to break American laws.Arrest her, deport her and her son back to her homeland, she is a fugitive from justice and milking the system for all she can get.You are repeating her lies and her sob story. She has no reason to be here except to get what she can get from the system by using fraudulent social Security card numbers and lying to those poor deluded people who support her criminal act in that church in Chicago.Deport her and her anchor child.

She is just another Mexican criminal and needs to be deported like the rest of them. Don't make her sound like she's doing something honorable. She isn't.

How is that a struggle for justice? It sounds like she is struggling to break the law, and should pay the price for it. If she went through the legal process and supported her family that way, then great. But I do not support any illegal in the US for any reason, as the negative repercussions to US society as a whole are too great.

The only reason I posted this again is because certain people who dislike me because of my political views keep using the "abuse" button as a censor button. I am determined not to let them do it. I will say whatever I want. That's part of the freedom of being an American, something they aren't
