Since it seems to be the fate of all pet beagles to be run over in traffic withing one or two years, just wait then get what ever kind of dog you like.

We had a Yellow lab with our beagles. (we bred and raised beagles) They got along great. Also why not consider getting another beagle. Whatever you go with, it would be awesome to adopt a dog from a shelter or rescue that really needs a home. Male beagles will do well with males or females of any other breed...just make sure if you get a female, you have her spayed.

I think you need to get a jack Russell with beagle's you need a dog that can jump over them in an instant and a jack Russell can do that otherwise the first time one of the bigger dogs lands on his back he will get hurt it can happen really easy with these dogs i know i have had a couple miniature and midsize, the personalities would really be great both energetic and kind and sweet breeds they will keep each other company. If yours is a mail you will need to get a female so there will not be a dominance problem just have her fixed

Why not get a female beagle, possibly from a beagle rescue or a regular rescue shelter. If a beagle isn't available, I'd still get a female dog about the same size that he is.

We have a beagle mix, and a lab they get along very well. You may want to introduce the dog you decide to get with the dog you already have before you bring the new dog home. This way you can be assured they will get along. Most shelters will let you do this.

As a child we had a beagle and a chihuahua in the house, the beagle was very tolerant of the little rat that would nip at its ears. If i had to chose now, i would try another beagle, pug, corgi, something compatable in size so they can play evenly without worrying about one hurting the other due to size.

Get what ever you want. I would go to you nearest animal shelter and have a look round, if you see one you take a fancy to see if the staff will introduce it to your own dog, if they get along hay presto, you have a second pet, unfortunately if they don't get along just keep looking. You will find the right friend for you Beagle in the end. Never give up hope on the right one turning up. Good luck.

i think you should get a male unless he is neutered cause the dog may try to mate but i don't think it matters but where ever and whatever you get ask the owner if its good with other dogs and good with sharing but you should bring the beagle when you get a dog but make sure you get a dog that you want don't let anyone trick you in getting a dog that you don't like!

First, if he isn't already, please get your dog neutered unless you are going to become a professional dog breeder.
Then, regarding your question, I'd suggest getting a female, and make sure she is spayed. You can get just about any breed, but the male-female dynamic with dogs is usually best. Two males will usually be in competition with each other at times, plus they distract each other often (boys will be boys) so you'll have a harder time keeping them in line. (However, two females will usually get along well together.)

you can get whatever kind of dog you like, if you get more than two though make sure they are all the same sex or the 2 who are the same will fight over then 3rd. i think you should try and adopt a dog from the pound, there are so many beautiful, friendly animals who need good homes
