Maybe they feel it is best if the other person doesn't know....what they don't know won't hurt them.....of course that isn't the case in relationships.....trust, communication, and honesty are a big part in a relationship but i think if the honestly was lacking it would affect the relationship, but with communication and semi-trust.....the relationship could go on without the possibility of becoming a "higher love" as you put it. I've noticed that different people have different types of relationships.......what someone thinks is weird and out of the ordinary....another couple might find..it normal....it just depends on what type of relationship you have....but if one person can't take the lack of honesty no "higher love" will be rewarded...........a relationship is 50/50.......and both people have to have an understanding and an agreement....on it.........good luck........:)

Over the years, I've come to realize that most people are like sheep. They'll either follow the pack or do what they are told. Because of the culture of our society, relationships are not only expected, they are demanded, so if you lack the ability to really think for yourself, it's easy to be found in situations that you don't truly understand.

Also, I've come to the conclusion that most people no matter what age, have no idea who they are or what they really want. So it's not difficult to find yourself in relationships where honesty isn't on top of the menu, just because it's better to fit in and not be alone.

I'm sure some people think about what they're doing, it's just hard to change behavior if you don't know what to change into.

Plus the theory of "higher love" is hard to understand if you don't know about regular love to start.

My theory is, most people haven't evolved past high school. And are still living their lives as if they must one day get that head cheerleader or captain of the football team. So in essence, they have set themselves up for constant disappointment. It's not about being honest, it's about being likable.

They won't. Quite simply they won't. Without trust, and open honest communication and respect toward the other person it would be almost impossible to achieve higher love. I don't think it would be possible, but that is my opinion only.

Some people are not seeking "higher love," they are just seeking "love for the moment."
They do not have long-term expectations so honesty is not required.
