This practice amoung most teens today is called robotripping, it accually only lasts a few hours. Being that it was the past couple of days meens she is allergic to the DXM inside the cough syrup wich thats the chemical that gives you that feeling. She could have accually gone through alot worse then what she did. Yes being depressed is a come down effect but she can also experience oh lets say death as one if she continues to drink the stuff

Wow, yeah. Yes, this is very dangerous sugarplum. I have to say, wait until you are 21, and then stick to beer and wine. You will be apt to get in a heck of a lot less trouble. Or, if you can stomach this world without any substances, that's even better. Now go out and do some good and stay off this junk. It's really dangerous.
Stay fast,

Yes, many people get hooked on to cough syrups as many of them contain alcohol, which has an additive effect. You should feel happy that the habit is broken and now it will be a matter of a few days more that she will be OK. Cheer her up while you can and let her not be depressed.

It could be your friend was depressed before drinking the cough syrup. It is never a good idea to use ANY mind or mood altering subtance other than the way it is intended to be used. The abuse of cough syrup could be an indication of a more serious problem.

You need to tell an adult that you trust immediately! If not your parents or hers, find a teacher, minister, counselor, someone. I don't know how old your friend is, but she needs help. The depression could be caused by the cough syrup - or it could be the cause of her using it. This is not something that you can fix. If she won't get help, you need to get yourself out of this situation. Just because it's "only" cough syrup, it's still substance abuse and should be treated that way.

Absolutely. Cough syrup is really dangerous as a recreational drug, and its after effects could last anywhere from several days to weeks.

I would think she had a reason for wanting to stay stoned for 2 days to begin with. So I would say the problem came first

How stupid of you to come on here and ask this question, NOW, instead of getting her help sometime in the past couple of days! What kind of "friend" are you?
