My mom said that once a teenager gets pregnant, the noncustodial parent no longer has to pay child support for the child. My cousin is 15 and pregnant. She lives with her mother and the father pays child support. I want to know if this is true.

I'm not talking about child support for the baby, I'm talking about child support on the baby's mother (teenage girl). Will the teenage girl's mother still recieve child support for the teenage girl once that teenage girl has a baby.

I am 99.9 % sure that is not true. An absent parent pays support until the child is emancipated(SP). It does not end at 18. If a child goes to college then you guessed it, pop is still gonna pay support for the kiddo. (which is only right I might add)
If you need more info on support visit www.aces.org. This is a site dedicated to helping mothers who recieve child support. Good luck with your cousin, the real problem here is she is a baby having a baby. :(

Not necessarily. The courts make those decisions. It is NOT based upon the age of the father, but child support may be delayed until the father is 18 (varies by state and you must check with an attorney). The noncustodial parent is liable for child support as an adult if paternity is proved because if the mother has had to have support from Social Services they will go after the father as soon as it is legally allowed and then the mother can as well.

The fact that the child is pregnant or has a child of her own is not an issue. The non-custodial parent pay support until the child is 18, or older if the child is still in school.

Furthermore, if the child leaves school temporarily during pregnancy or post birth, no court will suspend or cancel support.

Most likely the parents pays the child support (in my state) for the baby. However, when she turns 18, the father of the baby pays child support.

No No Not True, he may not have to pay if he is still in high school ,and will have to when high school ends but the father has a responsibility to the child, the only way he could get out of it is by signing away his rights or choose to be with the mother.

My divorce papers said until the child reached 18 years of age or married. I think he should still have to pay, she's still his child even if she is pregnant. You can call an attorney in your area to check for free, I suppose each state is different.

I've never heard of that, a little girl having a baby does not make her a legal adult.
