*SIGH* What I want to know is why Pagans and Wiccans aren't posting here? Is Satanism a religion, and would it be met with as much resistance as Atheism?
How many times will this same question be asked? Atheism is NOT a lack of religion or spiritiuality, it is simply choosing not to believe that there is a higher power or deity that controls human destiny.
If an Atheist believes that they are responsible for their own happiness and control their own destiny, then why do all the Christians assume that they are "empty shells" without THEIR God? It disgusts me to constantly hear, "You're either with God or you're a hollow, worthless person; but He loves you!"
In other words, Atheists are FREE to live their lives without the constraints placed on the religious masses.

Atheists are Humanists
Humanism is an ideological, political, and religious belief that denies the existence of God. Atheists are humanist, as are new-agers, and many others. The theory of evolution was developed by humanists to create a world devoid of God. Humanism today is prevalent in our media, schools, and government. The religious humanist believes, as the Humanist Manifesto states, that the religions of the world are outdated due to a vastly increased knowledge and experience, and are powerless to solve the problem of human living in this time. Christians know the power of God, but to the humanist the human is divine and must be responsible for furnishing adequate human goals and providing for the spiritual needs of today. Because humanists believe that the universe and its peoples are self-existing and not created, they believe humanism is the only religion capable of leading humans along the evolutionary path

People tend to pick sides of any subject. When we tell ourselves and each other that we know what is going on in the spiritual world then we are religious. When we tell ourselves we don't know what is going on in the spiritual world and that there is absolutely no way of finding out until we die, or that the spiritual world is all in our inventive, overactive imaginations, then we are agnostic or atheists.
I guess it's possible that some people get off thinking they are pissing you religious people off.

Atheism is kind of spiritual - instead of believing in a supreme God, they believe in themselves as being the God of their universe. People also call Scientology a religion but if you check out their website, they do not believe in a Supreme being and they don't believe in any kind of afterlife. They believe in being "the best they can be". Should have joined the army :-).

The speaking snake advised Eve that they might grow to be like gods in the event that they ate the fruit, so of course atheism had no longer something to do with it. in spite of everything, in those days God talked directly to Adam and Eve, so as that they might hardly be atheists. Atheism might desire to purely have been around because of the fact that he stopped making such appearances.

Because to have an argument/discussion/debate you need 2 sides and this is where the theists are to have an argument/discussion/debate with. If we tried it in another category it would just be "god isn't real" "yes I know" "great" and that's no fun. Say no to jesus

It affects religion and is often at odds with religion so they have a relationship and shouldn't be kept seperate. Plus it's good to get views from all angles.

Because religious people of the agressive variety (and that variety exists in every group unfortunatly) slander atheists in that section, for it beeing a sort of "anti-religion" (which it isn't). Then atheist (also of the agresive variety) get back at them.

Atheist can be quite spiritual. All an atheist says is that there is no God. So being an atheist does not preclude many spiritual activities.

If people are talking about the belief in god it's natural for the disbelief to come up as well.
