Unless a special election is called it will be on the ballot with other matters during the next regularly sheduled election. Most county election officials send out sample ballots to all registered voters & you'll probably get mailed propaganda from the groups for & against the annexation.

I can't speak for Florida law and procedures, but I can tell you what we just went through in MO a few months ago.

A special election was called. Residents in the city attempting the annexation and the residents of the proposed annexation area were eligible to vote. Separate ballots were cast by each group.

A simple majority in each group would have been successful. The city ballots were about 70% in favor, but he annexation area was less than 20% in favor.

The law provided for a second ballot if the total count was more than 57% in favor but required a 75% "yes" vote to override the objections of the residends of the proposed annexation area. This second ballot also failed, with less than 50% in favor. Lucky for us, most of the city residents accepted that fact that we didn't want to be annexed and either voted their conscience on the second election or simply stayed home that day. Turnout from the annexation area was over 85% for the second election, the highest voter turnout in state history.

You vote on annexations - no annexation is forced on you. Pay attention to the mail or the news.
