I think people like you who ask this kind of question are just adorable, like kittens.

It should be fine. The older cat will "show" the kitten where the right place to "go" is.
Cats know to use trays by smell - if they can smell thats the correct place to "go" because other cats have gone there, then they'll go there. Its like us humans looking for a sign that says "toilet"!! This is a problem though if you have a dirty cat who goes on the carpet because any new kitten will smell that and assume that carpet is the correct place to do your stuff!
We had four cats at one point and they al used the same tray - a really big supersize one! It just made it easier than cleaning out four separate trays and they seemed to be happier using a "communal toilet".

of couse its okay. just make sure that the liter box isnt too big for the kitten. all you have to do is just make sure u clean it out more often and get litter for multiple cats. i wouldnt reccomend two boxes cause it would be more for you to clean and xtra litter wasted. but your kitten will be fine. and they may only use one box. well my cats are crazy like that. my bf brought another box and neither of my cats used it they continued to use the box that they had been using. It was so cute the kitten would actually wait for the older cat to get out then she would get in and i put the boxes together but they still hardly ever used the second one.

One tray is fine as long as there are no health issues that they can pass back and forth. If your cats have had regular check ups at the vet you will know if they are both healthy. Plus +++++your older cat will litter train the baby for you!

If the little guy can get in, then it's fine. I've got 3 cats here, and 2 trays. It doesn't seem to bother the cats.

it depends...has the 7 week old kitten been de-wormed? if not you will need to use separate litter boxes until she has been de-wormed because you dont want your older cat to get worms...

Rule of litterbox: # of cats + 1
Do not expect an older cat usurped by that devilish kitten to want to share!

i'd say keep them separate until you are sure they are both clear of all parasites, have you had them both checked for coccidia? it is very common in kittens and spreads from the feces. once they are both declared totally free of parasites, then sharing a box is a sure thing., and congratulations on the new baby kitty!

yes its okay. just make sure that the box is big enough for both cats and also big enough that they can comfortably turn around and fit in it. but it wont hurt to get 2 separate ones. it would just coast more.

Your cats will let you know if it is ok. As long as they agree to it, it is fine from a health standpoint. If they don't feel it is ok they will leave you a steamy floor present. At that point they each need their own toilet.
