You can look up the features of the different models at these links.

The 82, 83 and 84 models are largely identical, with faster speeds and more functions as you go up the line. The 89 has a higher resolution screen, 3D graphing, and can operate symbolically on functions. Feed it sin(a)/cos(a) and it'll return "tan(a)", whereas the other models will just evaluate the function, assigning zero to any undefined variable, and spit back "0". The 92 is more or less identical to the 89, but with a full keyboard. The 86 I'm not too familiar with other than having a different interface than the 82/83/84 and 89/92.

I also have some Casio calculators, notably the CFX-9850G Color graphing calculator. The color feature is nice (graph a function and its derivative in their own colors,) but the different modes don't seem as well integrated as on the TI calcs. Plus there is far more support available for the TI calcs, and your classmates will most likely have a TI (probably an 83plus.)
