Go to this link for `Epson` support for your Epson Perfection 3490. http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=542F29DDB474DE5E563916FD59D01DDD95C05EC5F3386C3347E96D0EB8158193 follow the instructions. If that does not answer your question then you must contact Epson support staff, who are ready and willing to help you. Don`t use any other website to rectify your problem. If it`s Epson, use Epson Support :-)

I'd try the free download from this site and see if it fixes your registry. If that fails right click on Mycomputer select hardware. Right click on your USB ports and uninstall them all. Don't worry on XP you right click again and you can reinstall or re-boot and they will automatically re-install. But try the registry fix software first. Remember how to fix USB ports just in case it comes up in the future!

2. YOUr computer has a virus
3. YOU need to clean everything out of your computer .. probably remove some programs that you dont use.. could it be .. memory usage/?

try a registry cleaner app. it may be beacuase you installed something that conflicts with your scaner. try a registry cleaner to eliminate any problems, and then just reinstall your scaner.
