my cat is about 3.5 years. and he loves me to chase him! im just trying to figure out if thats normal.. or i just have a really weird cat!
and another question.. i have another cat.. hes about 2.5 years, and he wont play at all.. normally that wont be a problem but since they are indoor cats (most ppl think thats mean but we live by a really bad road where cats are killed all the time, so we keep them inside) and hes getting to become overweight, hes not too bad, but its just going to get worse.. hes afraid of the feather stick and isnt interested in the mice like my other cat is (my other cat loves to play with n e thing and everything)
n e ideas on how i can get him to play, and be a little more active?
**yea i just asked this.. but im updating some things--
i have a laser ponter... 3.5 year old (snowball) loves it luke, the other one, doesnt care.. and we have the tube with the ball inside, same way.. and we feed them Premium cat chow, cant afford iiams

Both of your cats sound pretty normal to me, I have 3 cats and they have been indoor cats since I got them, they are 5 years old now, I got them when they were 6 weeks. All of my cats are overweight, ever since i got the all fixed they gained weight, I have tried to keep them active but they just rather lay down in the couch all day. There is something that my 3 cats will go crazy for and it is a Bamboo stick, you know, the ones they sell in walmart in the Garden section? Oh my God they go crazy for it. It might work for your cat, I didn't know they liked that but one time I had some tomato plants growing undercontrol outside so my neighbor told me to buy the bamboo sticks, i came home and got them out and the minute my cats saw them they just fell in love with the sticks, you might want to give that a try, the way we play with them is, you hold the stick and you make your cat try to catch it as you move it around, sometimes i just sit there moving the stick in circles and they keep following it. I buy the Purina Indoor cat formula and it has worked great for me, it is less than 8 bucks for a big bag and the nutrition facts are very complete. Good luck and enjoy them!!

About the chasing of the cat. Our cat is 12 years old and she still at times wants to be chased all over the house. Upstairs, downstairs, around the furniture, etc. and if you stop before she is done she gives out a horrible moan sound like someone is killing her, until you begin again. Yes its kinda wierd but some cats play this way and some cats like your other one dont like to play at all and just just lay around. Some cats are in between. I guess if I had to choose it would be the weird one at least shes entertaining! Good luck with yours.

Some cats play, some are not interested. And it is good to keep them inside -- cats are the number one killer of our song birds. Restrict their diet to keep the weight down. Have a friend who has a cat that weights 31 pounds!!!!!!!!!! Their vet is having a fit!!!!! It is sooooo fat it lays next to the food and scoops it out one piece at a time in its paw. Do not free feed an already heavy cat. And since play is not an option here, there is no need for the cat to have free access to food

1. somes cats are just really playful--if you're chasing him around, it's probably a big game of "hunting" for him =)
2. on that note--i have a cat that won't play at all. they have personalities like people--some are more active than others.
if you want your cat to get more active, try to move it's food, litter, and favourite napping spot as far away from eachother in your house that you can. it doesn't seem like much, but my cat lost two pounds when we moved into our new house and did that.
another things is, some cats love string. get your cat cracked up on catnip and it'll either walk around all drowzy or hyped up. then try to play with him/her. it may work a little better...
otherwise, don't worry. if it's a healthy kitty, it may just not like playing =)

all pets are different. Feed them separately and that will help your over weight kitty. diets work wonders for ones self esteem. Also your kitty who likes to run, it is a game that your kitty likes to play. My cat likes to play fetch with those mice. See if you can teach that. Get like five and just throw them across the room. If he brings them back then give treats. As for Lazy, just ignore it. He likes to lounge. let him do it. But keep in mind all animals love treats. He might get off his butt if you throw a few treats across the room. good luck

its funny cause i luv fat lazy cats but do you have a scratching post. well get some cat nip and some toys and put the cat nip on the toys and throw them around, the bigger cap should become a lil more active. its something about that cat nip that gets them going and thats all cats. But it almost seems like your cat is depressed but im not sure. i would try cat nip, that should get him up

i had a similar thing with one of ours. She don't like to be with us or the other animals, would play, would only eat or drink at night.
Turned out she had a bad bladder infection and was in pain all the time.

you should use a flashlight instead of a lazer, it can damage the cats eyes :)
