4 year old should go to bed between 7:30 and 8:00. Allow 15 minutes for reading . 7 year old should go to bed between 8:00 and 8:30. Allow 30 minutes for reading. They should not be put to bed at the same time. This is a privilege that the older one gets to have.

Depends on what time they have to get up in the morning and if they get a nap. My 5 year old did have a 9:00 bedtime when he was getting up at 7 am and had a 1 1/2 hour nap at preschool. Now he is in kindergarten - no nap - and I have to get him up at 6:30, so he really NEEDS an 8:00 bedtime, but honestly we are having trouble sticking to it.

My 5 year old gets ready for bed around 7:30 pm. He is in his bed no later than 8 pm. That doesnt mean he falls asleep, mind you. But the thought is there.
