Sure Kathryn, I'm happy to. When I first started going to a bible teaching church, I was about 45 years old. I had grown up going to church and believed in Jesus, but never really read the bible. At one point I decided to get into bible study.

That was ten years ago. After years of very indepth study (I've never put that much thought and attention into anything before), that is when I came to believe the bible was true. God proved Himself, through His word, all around me, both in my life and in my heart.

I can understand not knowing how this can be so. But when God reveals His word to you as true, you will know it as such, it's really as simple as that.

Beacause of the doctrine of the inerrany of Scripture (II Tim. 3:16). All Scripture is inspired by God. The logic is as follows:
1 - God cannot lie
2 - The Bible is God's Word
3 - The Bible cannot lie
So yes, I believe Jonah was swallowed by a fish, the Israelites ate mannah from heaven, and Jesus walked on water. How can I just pick and choose what is convenient in Scriptures? It's all or nothing. I believe there is more than enough evidence to show that the bible is indeed God's Word.

I don't believe a "story" would have survived that long if there was no truth to it.

Even if you're skeptical about angels and virgin mary, it doesn't mean the Bible is rubbish!

I think the Bible is meant to be metaphorical and what matters most is the message it carries.

No, I don't. I think they simply tell a story to explain what at the time was unexplainable. Today what we can explain through science, then must have been the power of a god.

Many of the stories are also simply parables that teach universal life lessons, but peope learn better through a story with a moral then they do just simply being told.

Because I believe Jesus is my God and saviour. And I believe the Bible to be the word of God. Why? Because the holy spirit within me has shown me the truth of my existence.

There is more than one reason to believe in the "stories" of the Bible, but one answer is the way many of these stories are validated in secular documents and archeological finds.

If they are not illustrations I do believe they happened, because most of them have their stories backed up by historical evidence, the starting point of dates to reference usually included in the account. Those that don't have historical evidence (yet) I believe just by the sheer number of stories that are true. I know the difference, too, between what is meant by illustration and what is meant by account, because Jesus was the only one to claim to teach by means of illustration.
