Have u seen the streets we walk on? Too many germs, it is a must that the shoes come off at the door.

I see I'm the odd ball here....I prefer people to leave their shoes on. Unless it is winter of course. The reason is that some people's feet become very offensive after a day running around with their shoes on, and I would sooner clean up regular dirt from the street than have that smell in my carpet or on my floors. It also makes my guests more comfortable if they can choose what works for them. But I would rather they left their shoes on. Incidently, I received a plantar's wart from a person who was barefoot in my home!!

I run around in my socks all the time, so I really prefer that people take their shoes off. I don't want the dirt from their shoes to end up on the bottom of my socks!

Nope, I ask guests to kindly remove their's. It's gross when people walk around with their shoes on. Imagine where shoes go. You're sitting on a toilet in a public restroom. You just walked across the lawn where a dog peed or pooped. You just walked across the street where someone spit. The cigarette butt that someone through on the sidewalk sticks to the bottom of your shoe.
And, now you're sitting on your couch with your shoes on the rug. Or, better yet, they're in your bedroom right next to your bed with pee, poop, spit, and a cigarette butt on them.
I like to sit on the floor in my living room. I also do stretches and yoga on the floor of my bedroom. Why would I want all that filth on the floor?

I personally prefer to run around in socks or bare feet at home, but shoes don't bother me. If the shoes are muddy or something, yeah, that's a different matter.

I expect shoes to be removed before entering my house.
It is common courtesy.
