No, if anything they have been down played. If the full reports were taught in schools no one would speak to a German, or respect a Frenchman,Hungarian, Romanian,Belorussian or Yugoslav, etc again. The active roles of these nations or parts of their populations played and the quantity of fellow citizens these peoples either killed or betrayed to the Germans is repulsive and nauseating. The French in particular were so compliant. Their answer to why they did it was and is they were obeying orders. The Vichy government actively sought out and deported Jews while the Italian Fascists were stalling and concealing their Jewish population for as long as possible. There were Italians officials who were part of the murder machine but for every one there were two hiding Jews. No, if you read the carefully prepared reports of the death camps, the medical experiment logs and other so carefully kept records of torture, vivisection and murder you could not ask that question. The one that got to me was not pictures of the bodies or the survivors but a photo of a boxcar 2/3s full of children's shoes, hundreds of them being sent back to Germany for recycling as the original owners would never need them again. Everyone is hung up on numbers. Large numbers of atrocities simply dull the outrage and these were unconcievable in sheer magnitude. But Jack the Ripper only got ,what five, and he couldn't keep his victims alive to continue suffering like Mengle did. Mengle got multiple numbers mor than Ol'Leatherapron. What I have always wondered is why did a nation attacked on all sides continue to spend badly needed resources to kill women and children? And keep such careful documentation of the crime. But aside from that there is a record in London of memos sent to death camps requesting skeletons of Jews of different hieghts, ages and sexes. These were for display in medical institutes and universities to show the difference between races. What they did for aryan skeletons one can speculate. They were getting enough bodies coming back from the Eastern Front. This was an official almost mundane routine request for a defined number of murders. The bodies had to be fresh. The throes of being gassed often led to broken bones, either through the stronger trampling the weaker(the requests often were for children) or self inflicted in the spasms and contortions caused by the gas so the murders had to take place under controlled conditions. How can these events be exagerated?

Actually this is a good question. I don't see how it was asked in a racist manner - just looking for information. It has been long enough now that there aren't as many firsthand reports from survivors and witnesses and with the things going on in the world today we tend to forget things that have happened in the past. I doubt if history books they use in schools have a full accounting of the atrocities that occurred and that is the main exposure young people are going to have to the Holocaust. It is answering questions like these for people that they will learn what happened.

If anything, they are WORSE than any of the stories you have heard. You are only hearing stories from the survivors. If the dead could speak - you would hear far far worse.
I actually knew a holocaust survivor.
She was a 10 year old little girl at the time.
Not only are the stories not exaggerated, there were a lot of things that never made the news. Nobody ever talked about them. And nobody told stories about them. And yet they happened just the same.

I wouldn’t personally know, I wasn’t in the holocaust. But since nearly all of the horror stories I hear about it agree with each other, I’m inclined to say no, they aren’t exaggerated at all. Scary thought, isn’t it?

There are very few people left that can answer that question from personal experience. I find your question odd, do you think history is exaggerated in general or just the Holocaust?

Definitely not. Not only did the Holocaust include Jews; it also included Gypsies and people from Poland, Russian soldiers.
The NAZIs had it in mind to eliminate all but the German race from the planet.

Of course they aren't exagerrated. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar. Visit a holocaust memorial museum and see for youself.
