any time you feel that you're ready, phisically and emotionally. Perferably not before the age of 17

Any age before puberty: After that the complications begin. Sex does not depend upon "Age", it depends upon desire and compatibility.

The law says that you must be old enough to vote before you can have sex. of course that does not explain why there are so many 14 year old single mothers.

It is strictly up to the individual, there is no
"Appropriate time" to have sex.

There was a joke about that: A cop observed a couple parked with the dome light on and he investigated. He saw the guy reading a magazine and the girl was knitting a sweater.

He asked the guy how old he was and he said 21. Then he asked him how old the girl was.
The young man looked at his watch and said
" In about 20 minutes, she will be 18.

Go figure!

I don't think 'age' is the question. I think the real way to determine this is:

If you care about someone more than yourself, so that if you got a disease or Aids or pregnant - you would have no regrets and you care about going through whatever happens because you'll be with this person through thick & thin - then you're ready.

I always told my boys that when they were younger - (I never said "wait till you get married" but I did say) "Make sure you REALLY care about her - because you never know what you're going to end up with - maybe really ill - maybe a dad - and if you don't love her enough to go through it 100% - than don't do it."

Remember, it can affect your whole life..... not meant to be done lightly.... young people are denying themselves a true loving experience by sleeping with someone just "to do it".

Seriously?

When the individuals considering consensual sex can understand ALL of the things that go into it. It is a HUGE responsibility!!

When they understand that contraceptive devices - no matter how consistently and reliably they're used - fail...and are ready to handle the obvious repercussions of that.

When they are able to support themselves, each other and their new unexpected offspring...emotionally and financially.

Not till they can handle the above points should people consider having sex. End of story.

20 to 30, not 13 or 14 years old like so many teenagers do! And many pay the consequences for starting so early.

the right age for sex is when you can take care of a child and give it the full attention it deserves. not pawning off your kid on your parents or some kind of day care to finish school or whatever. if you can't handle the consequences then you should gamble on the risk.

None. U'r ready when u'r mature enough to accept the consequences of sexual relations. Online dating, im kinda sketical about it but then again if u'r mature enough to handle it why not.
