I don't share this very often because its very personal and I only do so now because you seem genuinely interested. In Jan. 1985 my dad had an NDE and our whole family was there, so we didn't just hear about it, we saw it. He was not clinically dead, but in the process of dying. My dad had a terminal heart ailment. We were at his bedside in the Intensive Care Unit. He was very restless, at some points seemed almost terrified, and all of a sudden he became very, very calm. He opened his eyes, with a knd of 'far away' look and very softly asked "can you hear that music?" . . . . "its so beautiful" . . . "can you feel that . . . the light is so warm". Then he started looking left and right ,nodding his head as though acknowledging people he saw. We all knew what was happening. My sister couldn't handle it and grabbed his arm and yelled "Dad. don't . In about 15 seconds he shuddered a little and closed his eyes. I thought he had died but then he opened his eyes and asked for water. He lived another six months and except for one time, privately to my mother, he would not talk about it. It did change him. He knew he was terminally illbut from then on his concern was no longer "dying" but more that he would miss his family. It was truly the most profound experience of my life.

Dear Deepman:
Many are saying that nde(s) are a brain phenomena. That's because they all occur in different patterns ; that there is no true standard experience and, therefore, it isn't real. They believe that medicine just isn't aware that those people are still clinging to life - never actually died. They speak of brain chemical reactions, but they are completely ignoring the Reality of what we are ! The brain is part of the physical - physical body. It has nothing to do with the consciousness of the soul.
The most recent one I've heard of is the experience of Steve Brock. He had a massive heart attack ; the equipment showed him to be "clinically dead." I can't recall how long he was monitored as clinically deceased, but I believe it was more than three minutes (if memory serves me). Acute actions were taken to bring him back. Eventually he returned to us.
Steve Brock claims he, personally, did not see Jesus or light or anyone deceased he had known. He claims that everything, for him, remained dark, but he still had his Conscious Self. His Consciousness never wavered inside himself. Outer appearances were that he was dead.
I think the things we need to remember are fivefold:
1. Jesus brought forth Lazarus and - others. He then demonstrated the Resurrection. There is no death. It's an appearance.
2. Our Creator created the Eternal. He only knew Himself. For nothing else existed ! He created in His own Likeness - spirit-mind.
3. The thing about spirit-mind is that it is a pure Consciousness. It can not be "put out!" It is the essence and Truth of life itself. It represents the Truth of God. It is as a light.
4. We also must come to realize that this thing called soul or spirit-mind actuates it's own experiences as it sees fit ! It is Author of it's own experiences. This is so, within Time and the physical. In it's Reality with the Father, it does not experience - it simply KNOWS. . . and IS.
5. Finally, let us remember our Self and understand that spirit-mind has dual function while we remain in the physical. It actuates it's physical experience and simultaneously continues in Eternal Continuum within the Laws of Eternity and the Creator. There are many levels of thought and consciousness within spirit. Computers are not the only multi-tasked, rapid assimilation processing units! Computers cannot touch upon the power of our holy Selfs. We are chips off the old block! Minds fashioned as the Creator, Himself ! We are OF Him, but not Him.
This split or dual functioning is the Great Separation. The Return means : absolute focus and full conscious awareness of our Self and the Sonship - in its Home with the Father - in Eternity. Then dual functioning ceases.

I have read several books about afterlife recall. In the least these experiences are subjectively real. As for these experiences having an absolute aspect about them I do believe they are a distinct possibility.
Some people under hypnosis claim they have lived and died many times and can remember in between life experiences. The book "Journey of Souls" is an good catalog of such experiences.
We can chose to believe or not but I assume we will find out, or if the atheists are right we will find out nothing. I'm a little more optimistic to believe in that.

I have'nt had it but my mum once did. My mum fell from a mango tree when she was a girl about 13yrs. Suddenly she was gone and she found herself in another place. According to her she saw a large area completely fenced and she was heading to the gate of that fence. Suddenly she met her grandfather who died a few years ago standing at that gate. as she attempted to pass through into the gate, she was pushed by this grandfather of her's, and with so much force that she fell on her back after some struggle for stamina. Immediately she fell, she came back alive and consious.
By then, everybody was crying over her that she was dead coz she was not even breathing. Some people almost ran away when she came arround after bieng thought dead for about twenty minutes.

I never had a near death, but I have had a out-of-body experience. I once did security for raves and we had confiscated so much Ecstasy and special k that the cops asked me to get rid of it for them. Of course I didn't get rid of it. Me, Mark and his girl friend did them. We were in a three way massage. Mark hit a nerve point behind my ear and I literally shot out of my body. I have never before or since experience a out of body experience, I was flying and well aware of everything...unlike a dream.I waited for them, but they never came. I went to different places and was at peace. I have since been trying to get back there, but have been unable too.

It's been proven that what these are, are called "The Brain's Last Fling." Your brain dies at a much slower rate than the rest of your body. What people with NDE's experience are electronic impulses of the brain. It's the brain's way of helping you deal with death a little easier.
