Mick ~
"Cut me Mick, come on Mick you gotta do it" I always wanted to write that. Mick your never too old to workout, Boxing is one of the greatest cardio workouts there is. The burn you feel in your arms as your hitting the Heavy bag, wall pad or speed bag is great. The way you feel as you work your way up to two, three, four or five rounds gives you a great sense of accomplishment. Make sure Mick that you go to a real Boxing Gym not one of these mirrors from floor to ceiling so the girl riding the bike right to you can fix her makeup and straighten her out, while her boyfriend looks on as he's bench pressing two of his buddies, Gyms. You need to hear the groaning an agony of men/woman pushing themselves to unbelievable limits, you need the Sweet sweaty smell that only a genuine Boxing Club has. You need to hear the sweet rhythm of the Heavy bag being pounded and the rat-tat-tat of the speed bag, you need to shadowbox in a ring that the Gladiators left their blood dried on the matt for all the world to see.By all means Mick get yourself to a Boxing Gym and just do it. You've deprived yourself long enough not to be involved in one of the greatest sports ever and the way you'll feel three months from now will be incredible. Make sure you get a Trainer and do as your told. Mick, make sure you see a doctor and ask him "Is it okay to train like a boxer" If you have any problems, you might have to take it easy and do only the things that he limits you to. Good Luck Mick!

It's not a waste of time. If you are a big fan, in your 30's, I am guessing the "bug" has been biting you for a while. I quit wrestling for over 5 years. I started at 17, very late. I never lost for four years. I quit one day because of injuries. I came back now and feel great. My point is, do what your body tells you, if you think you can do it, do it. Remember to twist the shoulders and hips, lunge with the knees also. You'll be fine.

Good luck. Hope you enjoy it. Look into the yellow pages on your place. It's never too late to learn boxing. It's good for fitness too.

30 is retirement age. Most Brit world champs start at age 10.
Sit back and continue to enjoy watching.
