Well, I love dogs and would love a house full. First of all, it depends on where you live. If you live in an apartment or condominium, you will have some regulations that will restrict you. If you have a private home, check with your local government to see if they have any restrictions. Lets say there is not limit set by any agency, then, it is up to you to decide how many you can truly care for and love. Most people I know have two to three dogs at most. I do know someone who has five dogs, but they care for them like they were children. Keep them clean, well walked, well fed and they have the vet check them out twice a year. Don't get many just for the sake of having a lot of dogs. Get a number you and the dogs are comfortable. Sometimes, too many dogs will cause them to fight and be jealous with each other.

I know people that have up to 12+ dogs in there house. In this day & time it is hard to give one pet the attention it needs, although if you are going to have a pet & you have limited time to spend with it a second pet can be a good idea so they have a playmate. Pets need grooming, vetting & attention. It is a personal choice but you have to take into consideration the cost, care & time of each pet then decide how many if any pets you should have per square foot, lol. www.petfinder.com find a pet or most rescue can help you place a pet if needed.

Look up the ordinances for the city you live in. It will usually limit you to 3 or 4 dogs after which you have to meet certain criteria and buy a dog fanciers permit or something similar.

I'm moving next month and just looked it up for where I live. I went online and searched for "Caledonia, WI ordinances" and found them.

I see a lot of dogs in a dog kernel near my house. But dogs also poop, need water to drink and need to be cleaned up once in a while. Two dogs is the ideal limit.

Depends on the size of your house and what your city limits are. Also need to factor in how many vet bills you are willing to pay and how much dog food you're willing to buy.

I have 2.

you can have as many as you want as long as you can take care of them and clean up after them. Unless you have an apartment or are renting a home where your landlord gives you limits then you'd have to talk with them about it. But some cities have limits to how many you can have so you might have to check with the city.

Call your city and check the ordinances. In Texas we can only have three pets, with two being the same kind.
