The peace movement needs to encourage all the soldiers to lay down their weapons and refuse to die or kill innocent people for the cowards in DC and the war machine. We as peace people need to support them with our moral support and monetary support so they feel comfortable doing so. We as peace people need to work on stopping the next war and work on giving families information and alternatives to their children putting on the uniform of the war profiteers. College is too expensive and they have no jobs in their communities, we need to wrest away money from the War Department and give it back to our future: our children.

l96vette - How do you explain the fact that you are an old Conservative with no brains then? It is sad to be lied to and most veterans can't accept the fact that Governments lie, thiers and of course ours too. I know people who still argue the Vietnam issue, still so blind, because they have to be, or else thier whole cognitive schema is destroyed and then so is thier life. I don't fault you, but please... save the stupid Bush-like slogans for the next David Horowitz talk or for the drunken late nights at the VFW hall for ***** sake.

As long as you continue in supporting a capitalist system in some foolish belief that it can be grafted to democracy and better everyone's life. As long as you have that system the poor will die for the rich's further enrichment on the battlefield and the work place.

There is a saying: if you are young and conservative, you have no heart, if you are old and liberal, you have no brains.
As a Veteran of the US Army, and one who came from a family that is well off, I can say without a doubt that this is liberal propaganda.
I went to college for four years before I joined the Army, and the majority of soldiers that served with me had been to college, many with college degrees, including one lower enlisted soldier with a PhD.
The cost of a community college, followed by a state school are not cost prohibitive. In addition, there are numerous state and federally funded scholarships and grants, so money is only a poor excuse not to attend college. My grandfather put himself through college in the depths of the Great Depression, without government help.
The War against terrorism is NOT about oil and getting rich. If the US wanted Iraq's oil, all we had to do was buy it on the open market. The restrictions on Iraq's oil were initiated by the US, and we have veto power at the UN (worthless organization) to stop this measure.
Iraq was a country that funded terrorism. What the liberal media will not tell you is that well over 80 % of the Iraqis polled say that they are in favor of the US being there. The torture and brutality of Saddam are gone, the rape rooms, children murdered in front of their parents, citizens killed on the mere rumor that they spoke against Saddam, the killing of millions of his own people, and a host of other atrocities no longer exist.
Our fighting forces are 100 % voluntary, so the rich did not force any poor person to join the Military. The draft was ended June 30, 1973 under Republican President Richard Nixon. Democrat President Jimmy Carter reinstated registration in 1980.
Had the world stood up to Adolph Hitler in the 1930s, World War II would not have happened. Continuous appeasement only gave the Nazis an incentive to take more countries until they were ready to attempt world domination. Laying down weapons and signing peace treaties before WWII ultimately caused the death of 50,000,000+ humans world wide.
Go on line and actually READ the Koran. You will find where it instructs its followers to KILL those that do not believe as they do. Then you will understand the threat that faces this country.

The wars of the 20th century were not started by "cowards in DC" they were started by the dictators and tyrants in other countries. !00+ million people died in the major wars of the 20th century; many of those people would have been spared if the "peace movement" had not kept the US from taking action early on.
Are there corrupt politicians and businessmen? Yes indeed, Are ther corrupt college professors, news reporters, and peaceniks? Yes indeed. Everyone has some sort of bias but military leaders and rich businessmen are not sending the children of the poor to war. Our military is volunteer. Our military leaders care dearly about each and every soldier under their command.
Go to Iraq, talk to as many Iraquis as you can and then come back here and ask our troops to throw down their weapons; if you dare.

Cindy Sheehan is really sad. Is this why her son joined the military? I don't think so. She and her husband could have easily gotten a loan for their son's education. This is the case for many in the military. There are other ways to get a college education. Work though college, loans, grants, scholarships, this is a cop out. People voluntarily join the military. They know what that means. She implies that these children of the poor are so stupid they don't know what it means to be a soldier before joining. That is NOT true.

How sad, I96vette gives you a very good answer, and all your limited intellect allows you to do is hurl insults at her. Obviously you are blinded by the propoganda, and will never be able to accept any other viewpoint, so why should anyone even try? Ignoring the other side and hurling insults at them is the last refuge of the moronic. Unfortunately for you, you dont make a single valid point, but are very good at hurling the insults, so guess what that makes you?

Can you give a specific example of your diatribe?....Peace is impossible unless your prepared to use force to insure it. As George Washington said..."If you want to insure the peace prepare for war." You seem to beleive that everyone in the world is good and would refrain from violence. Your not correct. its utterly impossible emasculate the military and to think that we would therefore "insure peace". Peace comes through and depends on strength. Every nation on earth that values its existence needs and maintains a military. Stop wishing for a utopian xanadu which cant happen.

Yes a lot of what you say is true. But the fact that you use it for your shamless self promotion is disgusting and you have taken all focus off your son. You are worhless.

Oh yeah lets all just talk about or feelings and give Iraq a great big hug. That will solve all of our problems. The people in the military volunteer! They know what they are getting themselves into when they enlist. Of course you wouldn't know anything about that.

And will you lay down and take it when the next 9/11 happens? Instead of criticizing, you should be thanking them. It is obvious you would be unwilling to fight for our freedom.

The USA has always been on the back of the disenfranchised, the poor and those without a voice.
The rich have always reaped the benefits.
It's always been this way & it will never change....good old equal opportunity USA.
