They're happy, they like to lick you, and give you kissses. It's a sign that they're relaxed. It's no big deal.

Here's a great website that answers all sorts of questions just like the one you've asked.

Quoting from the website: "The first thing a kitten experiences, even before it can see, is its mother licking and washing. Grooming is a demonstration of love and caring. So, if your cat occasionally washes your hair or licks your face, he is showing you his acceptance and caring of you as a fellow feline."

Salt sounds like a good answer. And if you have any food smell on your hands they like, they might lick it. My cat will lick the tip of my NOSE, for some odd reason! He will NOT lick my son's hands, 'cos my kid is too "rough" with him (picking him up when he doesn't want to be, "wrestling" with him). He sees ME as the nurturer (I let him come to me + I feed him), IMO and my son as the guy to practice his attacks on! :) Also, cats have scent glands on their faces as well as in other spots, so they are often "marking" YOU as their territory, when they rub up against you.

They get used to you petting and scratching them. This is why the one cat licks your hand, she wants you to scratch and love on her. As for the other, maybe you don't pet her enough, so she doesn't know what she is missing. Try paying more attention to her. ( I am using the feminine gender because both my cats are female. )

Some cat do, some cats don't. They may like the taste of your skin or it is a kind of "maternal" behavior because cats lick their kittens. Male cats will do it too.

Because that's their way of saying they love you. The hand is what feeds it. The hand is what pets it, picks it up. Everything you do to show you love your cat is with your hands, so they've grown most emotionally attached to that.

One word. Thumbs. They are jealous, like all animals except Chimps and monkeys, because we all have opposable thumbs and we can open jars and cans by ourselves. They see the power that is the thumb and respectfully bow down to it's glory!! AMEN! Actually I was told by the vet it is either they like the salty taste of our sweat, even just a little and it is also a cats way of showing affection. The love to clean themselves and groom so they are actually "grooming" you and showing you affection. Cats are weird like that. My cat does the same thing.

The salt on your skin. Why does mine lick my feet when I step out of the shower? Their strange critters.

They like stroking and stroking is normally done with the hand. Because you did not touch it when it was born. Usually if you touch it say a day or two after its birth, it gets used to your hand.

Cat's don't like you... you feed them! You are theirs and they scent you by rubbing on you and clean you because you touch them. End of story...

Call one felix and the other oscar.
