Our unneutered 3-year-old male cat has been spraying liberally since the spring. Now our house smells like a giant litter box! It's almost impossible to see where his "spots" are, but some smell worse than others. Someome mentioned a product called "Nature's Miracle" but I've heard negative stuff about it too. Should we just call in a pro or rent a steamer? And what about getting him neutered? The vet said it was really to late to stop the spraying, tho' the smell wouldn't be as bad. HELP!

Re: the vinegar: some folks on another thread said the vinegar smell was almost as bad! I guess most of you here haven't found that to be true?

Hi there... Nature's Miracle does work well, however if the area is overly saturated from long term exposure it's best to consider using a professional cleaning service or have the carpet or flooring replaced.

On average 85% of cats who are neutered usually stop spraying. Neutering a cat sometimes will stop the spraying, however because it has become habitual in addition to hormonal it's not always certain. It's best to clean the affected areas thoroughly in the home while the cat is away being neutered as male cats will spray over the contaminated areas to cover it up some more.

Nature's Miracle works like a charm. Been using it for years, never heard anything bad about it. Just follow the directions on the bottle.

I've heard good things about Nature's Miracle, though I've never used it. I have used regular rubbing alcohol, and it works very well and is cheap. It evaporates quickly and the smell of alcohol goes away soon. Please have kitty neutered.
