It might be hellpful if you DON'T get on the scales every day!
Just weigh yourself once or twice (maximum) every week, preferably at the same time, and you might be able to just not notice the boringly normal daily weight fluctuations. Water retention in the tissues can have a persons weight fluctuate wildly over a 24h period. Nothing weird here.

After a couple of weeks of diet moratorium (beer & pizza), I was back on the diet yesterday & lost 4.5 pounds - it's pretty much all water loss.

i have a similar problem. only i dont gain weight, i just lose it. i have to eat 4-5 meals a day just to maintain my weight were it is and im still skinny. your not alone.

Most good diets will mention that you should drink lots of water: Your body needs it, and if you want permament weight loss you should burn fat.
