Because a man is a lazy animal, and most people don't bother about anything expect their small lives. I think it's normal, but I also think that people should try their best to overcome their nature and learn more.

From the standard of spelling and grammar in the majority questions on this site I would be surprised if most people could find their own state on a map of the U.S.
