You must feel that you are absolutely OK and no different from any one else with a spleen. However, Pneumococcal infections are dangerous in a person without a spleen. Therefore yearly pneumococcal vaccinations is must for you. Get yourself checked up and treated for any upper or lower respiratory tract infection and do let your doctor know your condition prior to any surgery or even dental extraction or filling.

Don't get infected with encapsulated (gram positive) bacteria

So - antibiotic cover when you go to the dentist

Avoid scrapes and cuts where possibly
