get your straighteners out for when you put it down - presumably at the weekends when you go out do can do it differently. I'd try rough looking chignons, a complete straight look or tousled ends on long hair always look nice.

Be adventurous!!

Well if you want to continue to wear it up, you need to try a chignon or french roll sometimes. That kink you speak of needs to be deal with. Why dont you go to the salon and get your hair done. The ponytail may make your hair break off in the middle wear the kink is. I know that ponytails are convenient when you have long hair, but you definately need to change it up sometimes. Find a good hairstyle magazine or look online for some hairstyle sites.

I think that a girls look beautiful with there hair down. Guys love it too. It's what makes us look feminine.

1)Wash your hair before bed
2)put in a "leave-in" conditioner
3)blow dry your hair
4) Straighten with a flat iron, doesn't have to be perfect, just get the kinks.
5)sleep with it down and free, this also prevent headaches.

This whole nightly/daily process should take 30min max...
It should be gone in about 3 days. I had the same problem as you and my hair is also long and thick. This worked for me.

Straighten it...get some layers cut into it to give it some body. Curl it with some big tonge's loose flowing curls. There are loads of things you can do, use your imagination, anything goes right now as far as hair goes so let your hair down(so to speak).
Try plaiting it for work to avoid the big crease and this will leave you with some, very in, waves instead.

for a start try not "pony tail" it for a while so it can have a more straighten look and use only balms to keep it always smooth as you said is very thick. Just go to a stylist and ask him what is more suitable for you, we cannot have an idea unless you have a photo here, too. Best of luck!!!!
