You could use pepto bismol on a dog but pepcid is alot better. I have worked as a vet tech for over five years and we recommend the use of pepcid numerous times a day. (and even have it on our own shelf at work, generically its called famotadine). Depending on the size of your dog 10mg twice daily usually does the trick unless the dog is over 50 pounds go with 20mg twice a day. If you dont see solid stool forming in a couple of days I would definetly get him/her to a vet. Also not a bad idea to try a bland diet of boiled hamburger and rice.
good luck
