Absolutely! Today Shakespeare seems to be only for the cultured but the truth is Shakespeare wrote for the masses. In a lot of plays he jokes about prostitution because a large part of his audience were prostitutes - the theatre he performed in was supposedly next to a brothel! So once you get past the English problems, he really is a fantastic writer. If you struggle if the old English you can purchase books that have old English one one side and the "translation" on the other page next to it!

The problem with Shakespear is that the language tends to swamp to meaning and jokes.
A lot of his plots have been stolen - West Side Story for example.
It would be interesting to translate his words into modern English.

I believe that most people find interesting that which relates specifically to their lives and situations, many find interesting the woes and wonders of others' lives, and some find interesting that which is archaic - perhaps seeking to make connections between where we were and where we are now.
I think Shakespear interesting on all 3 counts!

YES YES YES
If you find reading it a chore, then find a good film/play on dvd - especially those set in the modern world. Basically, the themes that Shakespear writes about are eternal: love, hate, life, death, etc.

Funnily, I was reading ancient greek plays and stories and it's exactly the same thing. They lead our lives. Incredible really.

But of course Shakespearean Literature is very well received!
Especially in Europe and other nations of the world. Which outnumber the U.S. population.
There are so many twist and turns; in your window statements, that if you were to learn the language (Terms of the era), you would kind of be shocked to realize that modern Television had nothing over on Shakespeare! :)

Yes! Shakespeare is CLASSIC, and the things that he wrote still apply to our lives today. That's what makes good writing.

He is, however you spell his name!
One of his eternal themes was the misuse of power in government. Does that sound familiar?
Another theme: betrayal. Sound familiar?
Go from there!
