If you are "supposed" to be a christian, why do so many of you go trick or treating. Doesn't that go against your beliefs? It is supposed to be the Devils night, don't you think thats a bit hypocritical?

Well that threw the cat amongst the pidgeons.

It is AMAZING how you all come out in self defence when you know what you are doing is WRONG!

Dressing up, scaring people and playing tricks on them if they don't hand over candy is NOT in my opinion a Christian thing to do and immorally VERY wrong.

This only adds to the unsociable behaviour our planet is experiencing.

Let me put a few of you right when you say that it is NOT the Devils night.

Halloween has changed. It is no longer a religious holiday for pagans. It is just a fun day for kids to dress up and get candy. Many costumes have nothing to do with the devil. What about atheists who take part in Christmas celebrations? Isn't that hypocritical?
Most children don't play tricks on the people who don't give them candy. Teenagers do that.
What are you saying? That it's ok to scare people and play tricks if you're not Christian? If you really think Halloween is so bad, why single out Christians? Why don't you try to convince EVERYONE that they shouldn't take part? You are not really making sense.

Actually, historically it was not "devils night", it was a combination of both pagan and christian practices. This site is pretty informative. But no, I no longer celebrate it due to the meaning it has taken on, most churches have fall festivals or something along those lines during that time, so kids can still get candy, and fellowship.

We trick or treat for the candy :) ...but we don't dress up as anything scary (witches, zombies, etc).
Some people think that Halloween is super satanic...but actually it used to be a Catholic thing I think...it was like a "death mourning" day or something....
It has gotten a little out of control...but the main idea of dressing up and getting candy is all that we do.
And BTW, we don't really "celebrate" it...we just "have fun together".

Halloween has turned into a fun occasion and having fun does not mean you have to worship the Devil. The idea that you can't have a little harmless fun because of something that means nothing to anyone is what is wrong with rampant PC behavior. Get a life.

No. It is not "the Devil's night. It is the children's night to stop being afraid of the dark and get some candy. True, its origins are irreligious (non-monotheistic, pagan), but it is a popular American holiday that enables us to see and appreciate just how ridiculous "the Devil" really is. We don't cringe and cry on Oct. 31, we eat candy and laugh.

I don't celebrate Halloween or go Trick or Treating. Halloween was also called "all saints night". I don't believe it's "evil", but it isn't worth celebrating. Children learn "greed" by trying to get us much candy as they can get. They play tricks on the people who don't want to participate, so they aren't learning to accept others. And they learn poor eating habits by "pigging out" on their candy until it is gone.

no Christians worshi evil spirits on Halloween. Halloween has been changed into something that no longer has any religious significance. Have a nice bowl of chicken soup and stop complaining

Not me.
But I have read many books on this subject and some are proponents of letting children dress up in costumes that are not evil or scary and have parties at their churches.
I say forget that, even-it's not needed.
