Did you ever see the way romance is portrayed in movies? Children's fairy tales? It's hard not to buy into the fantasy; many women have dreamt since they were little girls that there was someone out there waiting for them. Many times, they end up disappointed because what they saw or read seemed so appealing that they lost sight of the real human being standing before them.
As women mature (ideally), they realize that they need to be open to meeting men and giving them a chance.
What about you? Do you have rules or expectations about women? It seems that you might be a bit jaded based on your initial question. Sometimes finding the right person is based on your own openness to those around you. If you think all women are passively seeking, then why don't you become what they seek by actively pursuing them?
Good luck.

I've actually encountered the opposites. The ones I've met seeking their soulmates are active in trying to find guys with whatever commonality they might have together; over-looking the areas they don't click; then saying, I've found my soulmate.
Dude, you really can't "find" one's soulmate. Not everyone in a relationship ever finds theirs.
"Soulmate-ship" is something I believe that lands in a person's lap when they're least expecting to find their true love.
Those women actively seeking love, might find love, but they'll confuse commonality with soulmate-ship.

Are there such things as soulmates? Not necessarily. However I 'do' think that there's always someone for everybody in a sense that no one should go through life thinking that they're not meant for anyone.

"Perpetuate their innate passivity......" Did you just learn these words and have been waiting for the perfect opportunity to use them? I cannot stand it when people try so hard to sound intelligent. Anywho, I believe because I married mine. He believes because he married me. Quit being so dang negative.
Oh, I just read your profile. Dude, 35 living with your mom, get a life. Or either this is just a big joke.

well many relationships start by the couple meeting by chance or some other act of "fate"... or women today are more secure with being single and finding someone can just be an "extra" although i know quite a few who actively look for men so this idea can't really be generalized

I agree with you! I do not think there is someone for everyone. It is impossible because there are more women than men in the world so there is no way every woman will find a man. There are just some women who will always be alone.

When you find him we know. I was married, it didn't work out. I then dated a bunch of losers. Gave up and then I found him. My soulmate and now almost 9 years later, we couldn't be happier.
