I truly believe that the people that call them selves Christian and do those things are only "Christian" because they were born that way or brought up that way. I truly believe that they aren't converted themselves. So many people live a "blind" life or they are in it for themselves. They don't see the "bigger" picture. I think if you were to find a true Christian - one that was converted him or herself, I don't think you'd find those things inside of them. We all have our free agency and God loves us no matter what - but He does want to see us excel and try. We all need to find that within ourselves and sadly too many people aren't ready for that.

Everyone is a sinner, even saved, professing Christians. But Christians who swear or drink in public are giving all Christians a bad rep. Some people don't want to become Christians because they see the hypocricy of unChristian behavior in a professing Christian.
As for you the questioner, who do you think the 144,000 are? I believe they are born again prophets/evangelists/preachers after the rapture who are trying to get people saved. Theres 12,000 from the tribes of the Jewish people (born again Jewish Christians, or Messianic Jews if you prefer)

Christians are, of course, not to use swear words. This is not showing love for one's neighbor.
Jesus told them, "Fill the jars with water." So they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, "Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter." So they took it. And when the headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine, ... (John 2:7-9)
Wine is used throughout both the Old and New Testaments. The first recorded miracle of Jesus was to turn water in wine at the wedding in Cana.
It is true that we should not become drunk but used in moderation, wine is a biblically acceptable beverage.
Go, eat your bread with joy and drink your wine with a merry heart, because it is now that God favors your works. (Ecclesiastes 9:7)
What would Jesus do? Jesus had a cup of wine with dinner.
If some people wish to totally forego alcohol to eliminate the temptation to over indulge, that's fine. But I don't think they should force that unbiblical teaching onto others.
With love in Christ.

First of all, that is NOT what a real Christian should be doing.
Second, that is really pitiful, because even though if you are trying to be a good Christian and you do those things, your rewards in heaven are going to be pretty dull. God knows your heart. He can tell if you're putting on a name for show.
The Bible says that the Christians will cast their crowns at the feet of Jesus when they get to heaven. That means that they'll show him all the good things that they've done (even though he already knows).
It's kinda like how many presents you get from Santa at Christmas....is determined by how good you've been. But I don't really believe in Santa... :)
Be nice!!!

The bible doesn't say anything about swearing other than "Do not take thy lord's name in vain" and that's old testament.
As far as drinking - what did they drink at the last supper? Wine.
Your christianity is a splinter group that believes in the restriction of liberty and everyone believing the same thing.
What ever happened to "Judge not, lest ye be judged"?

Most people think christianity is a title. But no, It takes living chritianity and that means crucifying the flesh to let the spirit live in you. Bible says the flesh wrestles against the spirit, that's just why people drink, swear, steal, covet, hate and have sex outside marriage. Even Paul who wrote about a third of the bible says he found himself doing what he does not want to, and does not do what he wanted.
So my gentle advice is, if you are a christian die to the flesh and live in the spirit.

Christians have no corner on the market of perfection. We still sin - all kinds. Swearing, drinking (which by the way isn't a sin - only getting drunk is), lying, stealing, etc. are still things that we do because we're human.
The difference is that we have been forgiven of our sins and so have assurance that we will go to Heaven because Jesus paid the price (blood) for our sins. Have you let Jesus pay the price for you yet?

Many people call themselves "christian's" and are just using a phrase, they dont walk the talk,or talk the walk.As a Bible thumper, sometimes when i get angry,i say cuss words, which i feel wrong about because the Bible condemns such actions, and so i repent of my sin of cursing, and pray that i am not so quck to do it again.

If a person is a new Christian it may take them some time to gain the victory over those sins.
We are still Christian as long as we try to be like Jesus, and keep asking God to forgive us and change us.
