No, they do not. In IG rescue we have had 3 dogs turned in becuase the people have an invisible fence and the IG runs right through it when they see a squirrel, rabbit, bird, etc. I know of another home that did have an IG until it got out of the invisible fence. The problem with those fences is that once a dog gets out of the fence they can't get back in without being shocked. I had a company selling this product ask if I would recommend their product for a $25 referral donation and I told the guy I would not refer people to a product I don't believe works.

INVISIBLE FENCES DO NOT WORK FOR EVERY DOG!!!! An electrical fence works with a collar that will administer an uncomfortable sound if the dog goes within a certain perimeter line of the yard. If the dog goes further, the collar will administer a shock. Shock collars are NOT ADVISED FOR DOGS UNDER 8 LBS. You run the risk of electricution or severe neurological damage. Many dogs learn that if they break free from the perimeter that the collar can no longer shock them. You end up with a dog that will tolerate one shock for freedom. Sighthounds are particularly bad with this problem...they see, they run, they get zapped, and they keep on running.

Not usually. If a sighthound spots something and instinctively takes off after it, he will be long gone before he feels the shock. Then he can't come home without being zapped. Also, there is nothing to prevent another animal from coming onto your property and killing or injuring your IG. I'd recommend getting a REAL fence in almost every case.

Invisible fence DO NOT WORK WITH ALL DOGS. some dogs will take the shock if the reward or temptation is worth it. Then the dog will not take the shock to get back in the yard. also it will not keep other dogs out. The only way to see how well it will work for your dog is to try it

Invisible fences do not work for many dogs. An IG is a Sighthound, even if they are in the toy group. They are VERY fast and will be able to run right threw it.

I have never heard of a dog electric fences did not work for. I have a 90lb mutt and it works great. If you are still not sure and dont want to spend a lot save some money and go to a hardware, or petstore and purchase it for under $300 and put it in yourself, This works just as well and the invisible fence people spend thousands on. Good luck.

No. I have an electric fence and my weimaraner charges right thru it to chase deer. $1400.00 down the drain. Live and learn.

actually Ferrariluvr93 not really because my cousin has a small male jack russel terrier and after a while he started getting used to the shock and he always ran away..so i think it really depends on the dog..
