Call him by it everytime you deal with him. Won't take long.

Good question. The best thing to do is stand behind the puppy and call his name. If he turns around and starts coming give him a treat. If that still doesn't work sit in front of him and call his name, he should run towards you. If he does, don't give him a treat, just praise him! Hope it goes good!!

Repeat it over and over as you pet him, feed him,say his name followed by puppy he will soon learn to know his name means something pleasant.breeders call the litter puppy puppy,so he will be used to that, just remember to attach a short,1 or 2 sylible name to it that sounds nothing like any other pet or family name or any trainning comands you plan to you.IE:Not Sid,sounds too much like sit.Not Shay, sounds alot like Stay.good luck.

Just keep repeating it. Like when it is feeding time tap the bowl and call his name. Repetition is the number one thing! My dog learned her name in about 4 days.

when ever u talk to ur dog use its name...train it so that when it responds to "(ur dogs name here)" it gets rewarded..i wouldnt suggest treats as a rewars b/c then ur dog may devlope a weight problem and become dependent on the treats to listen. try just petting and telling the puppy what a good dog he is for listening and dont forget that when u are praising a dog make sure that ur voice becomes higher..not louder just in a higher piched, baby voice, idea. i hope it works...try not to experiment with "nick-names" for the dog for a while b/c u might confuse him/or her! good luck!

with my doberman puppy he is just now getting used to his name. Everytime he does something wrong or good always say his name before eventually in time he will know it. Just be patient. Good luck.

Use his name constantly, every time you interact with him. Use a slightly higher pitched and excited voice and he will soon catch on. Say good boy..............., your such a good boy................ Every time he goes to the door, pees outside, poops outside, eats looks cute and adorable, comes to you...just keep repeating and repeating and he will get it. In a week or so he will come to you every time you call his name. Enjoy your new little buddy! Have a great day!
