Put it in a cage and feed it cockatiel food. And water. Let it out once a day to play. They can eat parakeet food just as well. You might look in the newspaper "lost and found" ads to see if you can find the owner, but this is a long shot. It must be a tame bird if it let you catch it.

I have one tiel and she is doing great. Get a large cage not just any cage but one with a play top that will open. Get Cockatiel food, The best I have found is Fiesta for Cockatiels. It has a mix of seeds and extruted pellets. My sun conure even likes it but I aswell give the tiel the conure food as well.

Do clip the first 7 feathers back to the tips of the next row of feathers on each wing. If it starts to bleed pull that feather out and use cornstarch or get a bottle of what ever it is called at the pet shop for blood clotting and put some one the removed feather. Hold a little pressure for a minute.

Remember you are going to lose money when you find the real owner and he might kick your @ss and sue you for everything he can get because you cliped his birds wings. Oh and the cost of the cage and food will be your loss aswell.

So either find the owner right this minute or give the bird to a vet some where never a pet store because they will sell it.

Or just keep the bird and forget about finding the owner.

The first thing you need to do is take it to the vet to make sure it doesn't have any illneses. While at the vet have it's wings cliped to keep it from flying away. THEN YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE NO ONE HAS LOST IT, IT'S NOT NOMRAL TO FIND ONE IN THE WILD, IT'S PROBABLY SOMEONES PET THAT JSUT GOT LOOSE. There are two types of cocalteil food, seed, and pelet. pelet is the best but it may not take to it if it was not raised on it. Birds need regular vet check ups and a lot of attention.
VERY IMPORTANT!!! You cannot use non-stick pans in a home with a bird, the fumes they put off when heated up are fatal to birds. Keep birds away from kitchens, open water, and windows or any type of draft. Owning a bird means a lot of changing of our usual habbits, cockateils can live up to 25 years, make sure you are ready for this.

ok, first off, buy it a cage. then get it grit, wax paper and a bag of bird food at the pet shop thay says "cockatiel food" but it a thing called a bird protecter(in a little tin @ pet shop) and get it some toys to keep busy, to clean it, at the petshop they also have spray bottles of soap free cleaner for cockatiels.

then you put food and water in the dishes that should have been attached to the cage. next, take the bird protector and attach it to the cage. take a piece of wax paper and put it in the tray at the bottom the sprinkle a pinch of grit on it and a pinch of grit in the food(since birds dont have teeth this helps them digest properly) then take the spray to clean them and spray him a couple times.....that should do the trick...they only need to be sprayed about once every two weeks, feed-every day, and change the waxpaper and grit every day!

The basic things you'll need are: a cage, cockatiel food, and water. Other things you should get are: a cuttle bone, millet spray, and toys. All of these things are easy to find at a pet store. Cockatiels are very loving pets who like lots of attention so play with him often.

Cage, grit, food, water. Have its wings clipped so it cannot fly away again....and try to find the owner.
