depends on the maturity of the 12 year old. and the ages of the kids

It depends on the 12 year. When I was that age I wouldn't watch over anyone younger than 5. I usually got 7 year olds. I caution you because I have done the babysitting gambit, camp counselor, life guarding, R.A.

If you aren't ready to change a diaper then stay at the higher end of the stick. Find out the kids interests and check any attitude you have at the door, because patience is really needed.

Become very close to the parents and never stop asking questions. Like what are rules and what do you expect from me. If you find yourself over you head take a deep breath relax hold the situation down or call the parents. The tell them that you cannot do it.

Important this isn't like school where if something happens you don't want to tell because you are afraid it will lead to bad consequences. I always report how the day went with the parents and if I had any problems or if I had a great time. If you have a Y.M.C.A I would suggest that you take some first aid courses and some C.P.R courses if you don't have these skills.

Always have your fee quoted. I don't recommend 3 kids for a 12 year old. One is hard enough 3 is like trying to control a tornado. Only it can be done but it very hard unless they are most behaved kids there are.

Get some age on you before you go below the five year olds. I don't recommend babies at all they take a lot of care. An unbelieveable amount. I took on one when I was 15 and my sister was ten and even with her help we thought we were sinking in a pit of wailing baby, and the diaper really does smell that bad.

I don't know if a 12 year old should be watching any children. I personally think it's a little young to be babysitting.

the 12 year old probably needs to be watched themselves.
But...I'd say 3-4 maybe 5, because they are easy, and they look up to you.

a 12yr old is still a kid themselves, rather dont look after kids til you're older.
