Ok I'm old, 40, and I do like SOME rap songs. It doesn't matter who sings it as long as I'm able to hear the words, understand the song (basically what the rapper is talking about) and it has a good beat. But I just dislike rap or any type of songs that you can't make out what the singer is singing about. Stupid crap is sang in rock and roll, hip hop, metal, and so on, so it's not only the rapper that can't write.

I'm not personally a fan. I won't go saying any genre of music is, as a whole, bad, since I truly believe that's completely a matter of personal opinion. As far as lyrics go, though, I find that rap music has some of the most offensive compared to other genres. Not all rap, of course, but I'm saying if you want to find lyrics that glamorize killing people, dealing drugs, and treating women like s**t then you will most likely find those lyrics in a rap song. As a teacher, I really don't like that 1st graders listen to that stuff. Then again, I realize not all rap is like that.

I pretty much hate it. One rare ocassions there may be a rap song that comes along that I like. One of the things I do not like about rap music is that it tends not to be very musical - just same constant beat all through the song. And rappers do not sing either - so it is really music???

I think it is awful. It's even worse than Bluegrass, and that is hard to top...or bottom. It is just a drone that makes me ill. Even chants have more skill involved. I hear that much of it has lyrics about beating women and killing cops. That is barbaric. Freedom of speech can be carried too far. If anything is censored, this crap should top the list.

I like Christian rap. I listen mostly to Toby Mac. I don't care for secular rap, though when it first started I liked it. It had more music and rhythm and the words weren't anti-social. But now, I stick with the Christian rap.

It's just missing the first letter - "C" - as far as I'm concerned. It's an excuse for the homophobic ramblings or the like to be presented to an audience under the guise of entertainment by somebody who thinks he can, but can't, sing !!!

rap can be better than most other music. its lyrics are real and most can relate to, beats are heavy and the overall vibe is expressive. and im talking about the original stuff from the likes of nas, biggie, pac, old eminem tunes, dr dre... these people have talent and can write lyrics better than any other fcuker in pop and sh*t. if people watch a movie like 8 mile for example they will understand this sh*t

Some rap is okay. When I do listen to rap I prefer old school rap. Most of todays rap has little to no meaning what so ever.

Rap/ Hip Hop has great meaning to many people. It is valued by many and not valued by others. Though I do not willingly listen to most of it. I understand how it can have meaning for some.

i can understand why people like it but i get bored of a song very quickly and most of the time the lyrics are rubbish anyway which sort of defeats the point doesn't it? the whole gun culture thing that goes with it is a bit sad too
