Talk to the person and see what is the reason why. You may have inevitablely insulting them without you knowing it. If he/she refused to do that then I guess you will have to move on with your life. Can't let that thing get you down when you have more people to see who will one day become your best friend.

Well, at first it would hurt me. My ego would be crushed and probably cause me to get angry and hate the person.

But then, after I calm down and have a few days to think about it. I would tell myself that for whatever reasons this person felt that he/she didn't want to be my friend anymore..I will respect that. (I'd still be hurt) but I will understand that people come and go throughout our lives and that if I really cared about the friendship, then I will treasure the memories of that friendship and hope that whatever she wants to do with her life now that I wish her the best.

While this is, right now, a crushing blow to you, this too shall pass. This world is sooooooooooo full of people. You will find another best friend. In fact, you may find many best friends. Hang in there. Try not to take it personal. Life does go on, and you'll be fine, really.
Good luck to you.

Well I've gone through this alot. Talk to the peron and find out why. If that doesn't work, just give the person some space see what happens from there,

If they turned that easily, they were not your best friend sweetie:-)
You are better off than associating with a backstabber.
Move on and befriend people who are worth your attention.

I'm kinda of in the same spot as you are. I guess I would say " you've just ruined my life" or something to make them feel guilty.

Firstly, ask myself whether i had done something wrong to him/her.

Secondly, talk to him/her that you still cherish the friendship we once had.

Thirdly, If it still couln't work out, just let him/her go as long as i have tried my best wholeheartedly.
