No, we should spend that money enforcing existing laws.

No we should not!! We should put a $100,000 fine on any private or public employers that knowingly or unknowingly hire illegal aliens. This would stop the job end of he situation because it would take about three businesses being raided and then fined several hundred thousand dollars each or a couple of private individuals busted hiring illegals and the word would get around that the Fed is serious about this. The jobs for illegals would dry up and their reason to be here would dry up. Take away all social programs by making them produce legal SSN cards for service and the game is done. No wall is needed and you really don't have to spend very much money. No troops on the border, no fence or wall. Just the Border Patrol!!! No work-No illegals very simple concept!!!

who's gonna build it? I've never seen a white construction worker unless he was in a managerial position. Building that wall is the stupidest idea I've ever heard. Bush shouldn't be attacking the people coming over here for a better life, he should be going after the businesses that hire them. He's not going to do it though because everybody knows that he is for big business, every republican is, and they wouldn't dare tell them how to run their company. The companies have bought the republicans. Oh, and no one has mentioned building a wall on the northern border even though terrorists did try to come down from Canada. How convenient.

No I think that would be a big waste of MORE tax payer dollars. Why not start with penalizing employers for hiring illegal immigrants? Walls aren't the answer to problems. All walls do are to close us off to more viable solutions. We're supposed to be more intelligent than that.

Didn'[t China do that one time? Walls not only keep poeple out, but others in. What would happen to U.S. citizens if a big wall was built? I predict that in time, we Americans will be required to get a travel permit just to go across a state line.

After the awesome feeling of the Berlin Wall being taken down id find it real sad if we built one between U.S.A and Mexico.

Well joe, are you going to pay for it? Even though it won't work?

If laws that have been on the books for at least 20 years were applied we wouldn't have this problem.
But greedy business owners prefer to hire the cheap illegal laborers at slave wages.

Our illegal alien problem was magnified by GREEDY AMERICAN BUSINESSMEN. The lack of decent jobs in their home countries caused the original problem.

A wall will only be another massive waste of tax dollars.

Yes. Unfortunately it has become a necessity. We cannot determine who is entering our Nation on a daily basis. We have Thousands entering or attempting to enter daily. Many may only be people wanting work but, what about those who are Drug smugglers, Terriost, Criminals. We have laws allready on this subject. Although they go for the most part Unenforced. A wall would allow us to monitor those entering our country and would allow us to let those in who wanna work and keep out Criminals.

Yes, but before that we should give a comprehensive reform for those who are already here and pass certain standards. By standards I mean not have any major-crime records, pay taxes or pay all the ones they never did, and pay a fine. That will get rid of at least some three million. Oh and after they are legalized we should do massive raids.

NO they'll just go under or over or around, if crossing hot dry desert isn't enough to stop them what will a wall do. It needs to be stopped at its source and thats the employers if you stop the jobs then they stop coming and it cost us nothing where as a wall costs billions.

A wall would be good however it would even be better to simply
make hiring an illegal alien by a US employer a first offence misdemeanor and second offense felony punishable by mandatory jail time for the business owner...
