Basically the main change is the GUI, all the new wizzed up Aero Glass Theme. But there are other things performance-wise like ReadyBoost, plug in a compatible USB drive to increase system speed. Increased security with UAC user account control.

Each new microsoft operating system is slower than the previous genteration and requires more system resources. For eg windows 95 needed just 16mb RAM where as Vista requires a whopping 1GB. It has a few new features and is more pleasent to the eye. Thats about it. All games have reduced performance in Vista.

I will probaby buy Vista a year or so after release. This would be after the major bugs are fixed. There really is nothing in Vista that makes it a must buy.
