For the past week or so my dog's stomach has been making these noises, kinda like the noises our stomachs make when we are hungry. She had diarrhea for a few days, but now her stool is solid. However, the noises are still there and this morning she didn't eat her food, which is not like her. But she did eat grass this morning, which I know dogs to when they aren't feeling well. Her attitude seems fine, last night for instance she seemed her normal self. I don't yet want to take her to the vet b/c, but I will if this continues on for a few more days. What I would like to know is if anyone has ever gave their dog some pepto bismol. I have heard of people giving their dogs pepto in the tablet form. Is this harmful to them or do you know any other remedies for an upset stomach?
Thank you!

Actually, the growling & gurgling noises are normal, it tells you that things are processing. Her diarrhea has stopped you said, good. She is spayed, GREAT!!! You said she is acting normal, good. She is not eating, but is she drinking water?? If so, just keep an eye on her. You can give a dog pepto bismol, I use to give it to my Pekingese when his tummy was upset. I used the liquid form. They usually are NOT happy taking it so it can make a mess. As for the tablet form, I don't know the dosage of them. Just be SURE that when you give any human meds you AT LEAST CALL your vet to get dosage recommendations. Even something that seems as harmless as pepto bismol can make an animal sick or cause them to die. Since you did not mention the size of your dog I can't even hazzard a guess as to the proper dosage. Just be SURE to be CAREFUL & NEVER give your animals ANY human meds without FIRST CHECKING WITH A VET!!!!!
Good Luck with your pooch. Keep an eye on her & make sure she is taking water. If she stops eating for a day or so, be sure & get her to the vet. A dogs people can never be sure what these buggers get themselves into when we aren't looking.

There is a good product called Barley dog which will help with her digestive problems. She may have developed an over-reaction of stomach acid to her current food. This can happen, just as we humans can have allergic reactions, or get indigestion and heartburn with items that have never bothered us before. She could also have had an intestinal blockage, which has passed, but her system is still in a shocked condition. Generally when dogs eat grass, they have an upset stomach and are trying to make themselves throw up. I would not give her any people product, unless I checked it out with the vet first, some are fine; and others will not help or could actually make her sicker. You could try adding a spoonful of mineral oil to her food. If you are feeding her dry food, you can add it every day and if you are using wet food, just add it a couple of times per week. Sometimes dogs can ingest things they shouldn't be eating and this can cause a lot of the symptoms you list here. You can add a bit of plain yogurt to her food also, this helps to balance enzymes in the digestive tract; just as it does for humans. She may have even gotten a hairball just from cleaning herself, and this is causing distress in the digestive tract. I know that apple cider vinegar is excellent for heartburn and gas and indigestion, does not have any chemicals or additives that could hurt her like pepto and other things that work well but have a lot of chemical salts, which are questionable. I don't know if she will take a spoonful of the vinegar, but it is worth a try. I would definitely call the vet and ask what he thinks the best procedure would be, until you can get her into the office for a check-up. Best of luck to you both. It is just as frustrating when our fur babies don't feel well, as it is with our kids and other loved one. Have a good day.

Vets often recommend Pepto-Bismol for dogs. It certainly couldn't hurt. If she is acting normally I wouldn't worry too much. Animals have better instincts than people when it comes to doing what is needed to feel better. She obviously knows that eating right now is not the thing to do. I would try the Pepto and give her one or two more days before you take her in. If you are really concerned about her not eating you might try what my vet suggested for my dog who wasn't feeling like eating. Boil some rice and add a touch of diced chicken meat. It is easy on their stomachs and will give them some nutrition until they feel up to par. If that doesn't seem to help - go ahead and follow up with the vet in a few days. I hope your furry child soon feels better!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aU7Fg
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Pepto - I don't know. What I do know is that one of the best things for a dogs stomach is to cook ground beef and rice, mix it together. This will be so gentle on your dog's stomach. It is easy to digest and fairly bland. Don't let the dog eat as much as she wants though.
I do hope your dog feels better soon.

Contact your vet for the best dose of pepto bismol for your dog. It will help with the upset stomach just like in humans. Get the caplets when you buy it though! Much easier to give to her.

Adding a spoon of plain yogurt to her food will help her digest better..No Pepto, until you know what is causing the upset..It may be that the kibble is undigestible...Does it have beet pulp or corn? Read the label, and if either are there, she needs another kibble..
