I went to a High School Football game last night. and during Halftime of the Varsity Game there was an announcement that a Tree was planted in memory of a past Student who passed away. there was a Moment of Silence, but some of the People there just kept Laughing and Talking. I know they might not have known the Student but I think they could have been Silent for a Minute out of Respect for the Family. Am I right or Wrong?

I agree with you. They should have shown some respect and been quiet, out of respect for the student and the people who knew him/her. It's very inconsiderate and inappropriate to talk and laugh at a moment like that. I guess those students are just too immature to realize how inappropriate this was.

It's our society. There has been a huge drop in basic mannerisms over the last 20 years, I think. It is a very involved thing though, having to do with the economy, divorce rates, the hours parents are working, etc. As the younger generations have kids themselves, they have not had the appropriate training in manners, and so do not know any better. Then they have kids...and it gets worse and worse.

You should feel free to tell any people talking that they are out of line. If they cannot shut their faces for 60 seconds, then they have a real problem with respect.

You are right. Those people should have had the decency to show respect for the student and their family. Death is a harsh reality and it deserves its own respect. So does the family having experienced it.
Keep up with your decency! It's good to know I'm not the only one out here....

You are right; those people were rude and inconsiderate to laugh and talk instead of respecting the moment. Some people are just not mature enough to handle serious situations.

You are sooo right. People these day are so rude and I really do not understand. If you are hanging around some idiots that can't shut up their mouths for a few seconds then why can't you take a small stand and shut up instead of continuing along? AHH!

You are absolutely correct, a moment of silence means just that SILENCE, that's like talking during church, very disrespectful. Manners are hard to come by these days.

You, of course are right - and they seem to have been dragged up by their hair. It never fails to astound me as to some peoples rudeness and ignorance. I bet they wouldn't behave in the same manner if that deceased person was someone they knew?

My motto is: Do unto others.

Now they know good and damn well if that was their friend or relative they would've wanted everyone to be quiet. Fukkin idiots...That happened when I went to a concert some years back. 2Pac Shakur had just died and they did a moment of silence for him. It was dead quiet in the arena and some butthole yelled, "**** 2Pac!" Behavior like this just reflects on your parents and upbringing.

Yes, they should have been more respectful, but this is the real world. Not everyone has respect for the dead. Tell them to shut up next time you are in that situation.

Yes, a minute of quiet is not too much to ask for, but I guess they felt otherwise. I doubt they wanted to be disrespectful, but it was certainly thoughtless.
