Where I live in Germany the going rate is 4-5 EURO an hour, but where I am from in Canada it is only $100 to $125 a week for someone with an Early Childhood Education certificate.

Why don't you look in your local paper under "help available" and see what the advertised rate for other home daycare providers is? Be aware, you will also have to issue receipts and declare the income on your taxes, but since you are self-employed you will get some great deductions and qualify for special grants for home maintenance and further training.

Ask at the local Day Care Council if there is one, or ask an experienced day care provider in your area.

Your county extension service or the website below (scroll down for list of states) can give you contacts for getting licensed as a registered day care provider. The licensing experts can also help you with the financial end of your business, not only how much to charge for the base rate, but overtime charges, getting equipment and supplies, insurance, what to do if the child becomes ill, and what to do if your client has problems paying.

Good luck with your new venture and enjoy the new little person in your home!

You are providing care for an 18 month old for 40 hours a week. In my area that kind of care is $190 per week. Don't sell yourself short. This is hard work. You need to cover the cost of taxes and your over head. $50.00 a week is high way robbery!

Charge between $180-$190 you are worth it. Make sure you have a contract in place and don't let anyone take advantage of you. Get your vacation and holiday pay. A make sure there are strict rules about late pick ups and early drop offs. Make sure you have them place a deposit. Protect yourself.

Depends.. are you doing this for a friend or family member? In NC the average rate of a daycare is $95-140 a week for an infant/toddler.... I keep a child for a friend... she pays me half of what her previous daycare charged her AND supplies me with all the food, drink, and snacks I need for that child...Need to think how you want to do it.. do you want to purchase the childs food when you grocery shop- charge more.... do you want to have the parents provide all the food you will need- charge a little less... Good luck
