an observation i have made over the years of travelling, at first i thought it was the diet, then i also ate the same diet, however i still never smelt the same as the locals. And this is also true of these people (some not all) when they are outside their own areas.
This cannot be a personal hygine thing, surely, as especially in the west, they dont sweat the same as at hot countries and its easy to find water to wash.

My wife is a shift supervisor and has had to deal with this issue at work. It does seem to be a seasoning that is used. She has discussed this with an Indian man at work that she knows well, and he handle's the situation by telling fellow worker's what seasoning not to use. Then the odor goes away. Whenever I eat garlic, my wife can tell within hours, as it comes out of my pores, and she's very sensitive to the odor.
Also, with all due respect, they smell different, or have a different odor....not bad.

My daughter's family are Punjab related. She cooks great Indian food. They smell fine, and I just love Indian turmeric, onions, garlic, garam masala, etc. They bathe! And as far as I can discern, their sex life is great. He is pre med, and I could not ask for a better husband for my daughter or dad for my brilliant grand kids! We in the West are overly sensitive to odor due to all the commercials for germ killers, soaps, deodorants, "feminine hygiene" stuff etc. But I say live and let live. If it bothers you, just move upwind. Or light some Nag Champa incense. Here in the US we are so spoiled that we can jump in the shower or hot tub. In India all the very poor have is the Ganges, to live and die in.

using fact each and all of the smells intertwine while they cook dinner and scent sturdy. it is not difficult to make nutrition scent sturdy. this is greater sturdy to make nutrition style sturdy. my pals are finished chinese language i believe doubt they got here from united statesa. yet their house is a finished pig sty. theirs crap they create abode from artwork throughout their front backyard and back backyard and this is all broken issues like tables, refrigerator, washing machines,etc.. yet on occasion while they're cooking it smells rather sturdy. yet i fantastically doubt it tastes that sturdy. why? only walk infront of their door step and you will understand why theirs craps everywhere including lifeless flora/animals decaying like fish. Im specific they don't save at a genuine food market the two however the community china city and all and sundry in my state knows the china city isn;t very sturdy for groceries as this is been generic to hold rats and it is not even that tasty. that being mentioned do not enable the smells fool you.

I imagine they make all there food from scratch and store a lot of the herbs and spices they need in their houses.
I find people who use garlic and have it hanging around in their house definitely have a garlic flower smell about their clothes.
I don't like garlic and the flowers set my asthma off so maybe I can smell it because my nose starts getting itchy.

im indian and i most def dont smel...in my opnion, its because of the living conditions they life in...and also, many indians who live here in the US still live asif theyre in india because they still feel like they shud keep going with w/e they did in india cuz its just part of their ;daily tradition' sort of thing...also, american born indians dont smell at all cuz theyve been living here sicne theyre born but those who immigrte here arent used to what we expect such as deodarant and such things as mouthwash...also, being an idnian, i know we eat a lot of spicy foods and such..sumtimes the garlic and onions can cause an odor but for american born indians...they can take care of it cuz they know how to and they know ppl care about how u smell here..over in india, no1 cares cuz every1 nos what conditions evry1 lives in although sum places in india r VERY amazingly clean and beautiful...sooo, when they come here the ones living in small towns/polluted cities dont realize ppl care here..they act as if theyre still in india...its just like that...ik i might be confusing and make no sense but its true...

I have noticed it and I would say it is a personal hygiene thing. They don't wash their clothes often enough or bathe often enough. I was in a taxi driven by one and even though it was warm enough to have the air conditioner on, he had the heat turned up high.
