I’m a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was ordained an elder when I was twenty years old. There’s nothing exceptional about that. We do not have a paid ministry, so there is no separation between laity and clergy in our faith. Worth males are usually ordained elders when they reach adulthood. As a priesthood holder, I’ve baptized my children when they reach the appropriate age, and blessed them when they were ill, or merely needed some spiritual comfort.

I've frequently blessed people who are not members of our faith, in obedience to the Bible, which teaches if there are any sick among you, call for the elders, who shall anoint them and bless them. If we share a faith in Christ, such a blessing can be comforting and frequently healing.

You can locate the nearest LDS church at this website:

However, the phone at the chapel might not be answered -- remember, there's no paid ministry, so the local leaders are at work! Better to call one of the toll-free numbers listed in these TV ads. You can talk to a live person, who can contact local missionaries.

Sure it is ok. However, it is unlikely to have any impact on your life unless you have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and believe that the Mormon priesthood holder is authorized by Jesus Christ to perform ordinances on his behalf. So first ask them to teach you just exactly why they think their blessing would be any different than a prayer or blessing by anyone else. Then after they are gone and you are alone to think then pray to God in the name of Jesus Christ to know whether what they told you is true. Only if you then believe and have faith will the blessing do you much good.

Are you a Mormon?

Any Mormon who holds the priesthood rank of Elder and above can give you a blessing. Not just missionaries.

But why don't you ask someone from your own church. One person praying for you is just as good as another.

You do not have to be a member of the church to receive a blessing. If you believe and have faith that the power of the Priesthood is real and true, you can greatly benefit from that.

If you have faith in the power of the priesthood held by whomever comes to give you the blessing that you can be healed.....then it is ok......It takes faith in the Lord by the one giving the blessing to make it work too. And don't forget....the Lord can/will decide what should happen in the end.

If you have faith that the power of god will heal you, then go ahead and ask them for a blessing. Then you should hear what they have to say about the church, because if you believe that the power of god will heal you, then your already on the path to the church!

They would be more than willing to do that for you. It's perfectly fine.

If you believe in it and they are willing, why not?
