If he feels guilty about it or is avoiding talking about it, then yes he is hiding something. If it just hasn't come up or he's still figuring out his feelings then no.
There can be really good reasons for a fully grown man to not have this discussion with his mother.

It may be that he's hiding the fact, but then again if you guys just got back together he could be waiting for the right time to tell her when it feels comfortable. Maybe it hasn't crossed his mind to tell his mother or maybe it's none of his mother's business right now. If months go by and he still hasn't told her then yes I would think that he's trying to hide something for sure, but if you two just got back together recently then I wouldn't let it be a big deal as of yet.

mother knows that woman inside out just by seeing her, and deep down you (the man ) too, are you back because of the good sex? maybe there is shame in some acts of submission and acceptance. and from someone as close to you as your mother you cant hide this fact. if she is not that out of it! or you, maybe there is something to considered, dump that evil woman, my man, or enjoy the silence. "staring at the abbys for too long, this look back into you". and become a cynical hedonist, everything goes dude, and take it as a man. and .."enjoy the silence..." maybe shes good and your mom hates you. have you read "the estranger" by albert camus?
and why did you broke up in the first place? cheating on you? considered all that you know. and good luck in life.

Sounds like he ran off at the mouth too much to his mother and is afraid Mom is going to think less of him for going back to her. But thats just me, Good luck.

Seems like one of those situations where a breakup happens and a person says to other people arounds them "This person was horrible and I was stupid to be with them. I'm glad I got rid of them" and so on and then looks like an *** when they get back with that person and he doesn't want to hear anything his mom has to say about it.

I'd say maybe it's because it's not his mother's business since he's not in 9th grade anymore.
